The reason your other threads were closed was simple: misinformation was being spread and someone came in with legitimate info and put an end to the questions. Bottom line, per Ford engineers, changing the viscosity of the oil requires a change in the calibration of the motor, so it's in YOUR best interest to follow their specifications and stick with the 5w-20. If you're concerned with the normal synthetic blend being an issue, I suggest going to a full synthetic 5w-20, like Amsoil or Royal Purple, and go with a higher quality filter.
My job on these forums is to keep the debates civil, and the information legit. I don't like to see a ton of misinformation spread and other members confused on the validity of topics, so I was contacted by someone who knows what they were talking about and closed the thread. Where is this statement documented? I have not found, nor has anyone been able to provide that any Ford engineer has made this statement using documented proof. Why is it that the statement "using 5w-20 requires a change in the recalibration of the motor" be considered "legit" if no documentation has been presented to back it up? You were contacted by someone that "knows what they are talking about"...I don't doubt this persons qualifications at all, but can this person provide proof through a published document to my question? That's all I ask. No doubt this person is a qualified and respected member of this forum; a valued member. I am in no way a trained or certified Ford engineer or mechanic; just someone that wants to learn.
The owners manual states using 5w-20. The only thing I can find is that TiVCT works with oil pressure, and that 5w-20 provides optimum fuel economy. Nothing in any official documentation that I have found states that any other oil viscosity will render engine damage, either now or in the future. I would think that using anything other than 5w-20 would cause damage, this would be stated in the section of the owners manual. I'm one of those who does read the owners manual, and one that questions something I do not understand.
In no way did I suggest to anyone to use a different viscosity other than what was recommended. I stated I switched because I thought going to a slightly higher viscosity would be better in the upcoming hot Florida summers coming up. Then I learned that these engines have TiVCT. It was at this point I asked for proof that 5w-30 would damage it.
And for the record, I will stick with 5w-20 in future oil changes.

They give you documentation of what WILL work. Why is that not good enough for you?
You said you don't doubt the credentials of the individual who contacted the moderator and gave him information that was apparently convincing enough to close the previous two threads. Why is that not good enough for you?
The owner's manual states that the oil needed to be used is 5w-20. Why is that not good enough for you?
What do you not understand about the impracticality of having to state, in writing, that each and every other option in oil weight and/or viscosity is NOT what you should use, because it is not the optimum oil weight for the engine in your car? How big do you think the owner's manual will be if they include that clause for every single aspect of the vehicle? Tires, brake fluid, transmission fluid, air filter, coolant, etc....Seriously, you've been told, by multiple "official" sources that 5w-20 is what you should use in your engine. Why in the world are you trying to determine whether 5w-30 is any better or worse?
The only documentation you're going to find about 5w-30 not being what your engine needs may be the report on why your engine failed at 20k miles. OR, you can just use 5w-20 and not think twice about it.

Why would anyone have proof??? The engine validation would of been for the weight that best matched. You will not find documentation on something they wouldn't expect people to do.

Ford doesnt need to show you why they do everything that they do.
There are reason why they recommend the oil they do.
There are reasons they used one type of fog light bulb over another as well.
Ford will not come on this board and show you the reasons why they chose 5w-20 for this motor.
The reason they won't is:
A.) why would they? 99% of customers don't care
B.) the one percent that does thinks they know better and will discredit what they say.
By continuing on an on despite being corrected by people with much more knowledge of the situation by not sticking with the factory recommendation you are saying you and some dealership tech's know more about Powertrain engineering then Ford does.
There are reasons 5w-20 is speced for your car and reasons why 5w-50 is speced for Boss/GT500 and 2013 GT track pack and those reasons are more then "just because they thought it was better".

Got my answer
Won't mention any threads or posts, but I recieved an answer to my question....I took a huge risk when I talked to my local service manager about what I had done, as I openly admitted to it, and they now had it on record. If I had done damage, I was screwed.
I'm happy to report that the regional service rep got involved, and it came back from Ford who stated I did not do any damage to my engine. They did state that Ford recommends what was said here from many for "best fuel economy and performance". That I accept and do not debate.
I'm happy with my answer (finally). I still have my warrantee intact, and piece of mind knowing that no damage has, or will happen with what I did.
Thanks to all that offered opinions and comments. It's done now.

Thought you wanted proof Ford said not to use something different, not just no damage done.
