Fixing scratches on lower unpainted part of Mustang front bumper
Hi guys,
New here to the forum...I noticed some scratches on the lower part of my Mustang's front bumper. It's the unpainted lower corner. I think it is from driving out on a steep driveway onto the street. Any ideas how I can smooth out the scratch? Maybe 1000 grit sandpaper? Here is a photo to give you an idea which part of the bumper...thanks for your suggestions in advance:

That kind of plastic isn't going to sand well; it''ll just start to ball up and turn into a bigger mess. If you have a steady hand, you can try to shave the high spots with a double edged razor blade.

Thanks for the suggestion, J1000...that just might work...I was also thinking about using a hot knife and rubbing the rough corner smooth...do you think that's too risky?

I agree. Once you shave it with the blade, you can quickly pass heat over it to smooth it. I know from experience...scraped mine on day 2 of owning my car! After I shaved it, I used a small butane torch that I normally use for soldering and shrink-wrapping wires. Just a quick pass over it melts off any sharpies sticking out. Good luck!
