First observations 2011 GT
My observations since taking delivery Friday:
- 6th gear with 3.73s is still a highway gear. Definitely geared a lot lower than my 6th gear in my Speed6.
- Sound tube, even stock, is putting plenty of noise in the cabin.
- Seeing 17.5 mpg on two tanks of 93 octane so far.
- Curious if skip shift doesn't engage when Advancetrac is set to "Sport". I've been unable to replicate this.

i have 3.73s and tend to shift early and skip gears, still run up to around 2500rpm
this motor revs easily and lives at a higher rpm than usual v8s
as far as being a "dog", i guess it depends on how the comparison goes but on the street the car runs effortlessly and feels like a "dog" tugging at it's leash ready to go.
my views are based off of driving a 2003 gt for 6 years and this 2011 feels easily 1.5x quicker/faster, now when i ride my cbr929 then get into any of the cars, they feel like "dogs", but is that really a fair comparison?
I haven't tried "sport" but skip shift will engage when traction control and advancetrac are both OFF, saw it for the 1st time yesterday but it did not lock me out as i shifted to 2nd anyways.

Also, I love the feedback from the EPAS, and the clutch/shifter are fantastic.
If I remember I'll turn on sport mode and experiment. That pretty much sums up how I feel about the car too, though you are getting much better gas mileage than I did when I first got it, but granted I was probably driving it bad for gas mileage when I first got it. I was more focused on just driving it rather than driving it efficiently. That said, last week I was moving the truck so I could park where everyone can still get out in the morning, and remembered that this vehicle had an automatic transmission. It seemed so ALIEN after driving a manual for nearly three months. I kept thinking something was wrong when I couldn't press the clutch before I turned the ignition. I kept trying to tap the ignition to get it to start, but that feature did not exist on this vehicle. I kept wanting to hit the clutch, but I ended up hitting the brake instead. It messed with my head a bit, and it took me a few minutes before I really got reasonably comfortable driving an automatic again, though it still felt weird. My conversion to manual transmissions must be complete.

My 3.31 drivetrain is loafing at 1500 rpm @ 60 in 6th gear, and has zero ***** without downshifting.
I know at 80 it turns about 2400 rpm. My Speed6 at 80mph would be about 3100rpm, and in full boost. I will look later and see what it runs at and let you know.
60 in 6th is just a bit under 2000 RPM. If you want to be technical, 1811 RPM approximately. I generally go 70 on the highway, which is 2112 RPM. Around 2000 RPM and the engine seems willing to go pretty decently even in 6th, at least for me.
OK, that settles it – gotta get the 3.73 ring & pinion when/if I ever get my car back from the body shop. Just need to solve the speedo thing, and if I’m doing that I kind of want to do a full-on tune. Shotz – Let us know your impressions of that FRPP power pack as soon as you have it installed, man!
It definitely took some re-learning when I got this car. I've lived in the land of 4 cylinders up until now. Torque was something that came on at full boost, not something that was always present.

Not sure about the Sport mode theory. Sounds interesting though.

What was the final gear ratio in the speed6? I looked up my Si and it's around a 4.77, thus the reason the car never leaves 3k RPM. It lives in the upper power band so I know what you mean about 6th gear feeling much different than the Mustangs. To me, even in the 3.73 cars, 6th gear was still sluggish in the 60's. Not a big deal really, it drives much differently so adapting to the gear scheme is not a problem.

Yeah, that's about how it feels with the 3.73s. The one time I tested it it pulled nicely all the way up to 140. Didn't give any indication of stopping either, though I was about to top out 5th in revs. Should have tried putting it in 6th, but I doubt I would have found out anything anyway with the speed limiter.
