first mods?
Well, ya you could. You could waste your money.
Seems like Ford put a lot of time into the exhaust note, making the intake flow better, and a lot of other things that most people would do to a Stang right out of the gate.
I'd wait until a performance shop tries everything under the sun to see what is the most bang for the buck.
Depending on how things play out, I may skip all the usual bolt-ons and go straight for a supercharger.

I'll get the windows tinted, although Ohio only allows a tint of 50%, which is very light and lame. It's kind of hard to notice unless you're parked next to a car without tint, then it stands out a bit. I'll get matching floor mats and steering wheel cover.
I have an MRT axle back exhaust on my '05. there wasn't any difference in my 1/4 mile time before and after I added that, but I really like the sound. So I will look at getting some axle back exhausts. Then a tune. Maybe a tune before the exhaust, depends on what comes out first.

Window tint without hesitation.
Lower the car a bit.
Wider rear tires without going out of specs with Brembo wheels.
And wait for the other guys to report on any worthy mechanical mods, tunes, air. etc.

From what we've heard from various sources out there, it seems to have a very nice throaty sound. I'm not gonna comment on that till i hear it from myself. But it looks promising.

On my V-6, a strut tower brace. Maybe a 'proven and tested' set of headers later on. I'm afraid a tune won't work on the 2011 engine's 'as well' as on the older engines. In my opinion, if the engine is continuously adjusting the camshafts and the timing for optimal performance, what more could a 'tune' do for the engine.
My present car has 'dual (intake and exhaust valves) variable valve timing'. No tunes are offered for it.
I hope someone does come out with a tune for the Mustangs new engines, if possible. Time will tell.

I have to add this......On my 4 cylinder engine i did add a header, c.a.i. and an exhaust system. This did take 1.2 seconds off my 0 to 60 times. Improvements can be made.

A tune may not net much to a stock car but if you mod it in such a way as to change the airflow in or out it will require a tune. So, if you do get a set of headers or a CAI for your car you will need a tune for it.
On your new V6 Mustang, before I would put headers on it I would open up the air intake with a good aftermarket CAI.
