Firewall Padding Damage

Here's a pic of the damage my furry dead friends created on my firewall padding.

I thought about replacing it, but $275 for it is more than I want to spend when those dollars can go to other mods. Even if I wanted to, the job does not look easy.

So I'd really like to think of a way to hide it, but I've had no luck coming up with an idea that looks good. Any ideas will be appreciated.

If it was me, I'd just paint that whole area flat black. I paint a hood liner once that had a white stain that I couldn't get off.

I'm not sure if this would help. I have used some other products from here in the past and they worked out well. At least it would be a little cheaper.

Get a Boss manifold. Sits higher than stock manifold. You won't see it anymore.

Does it look like she'd care if I fired her?

Back to my pad issue. Ugh! I need a way to hide the rat munching.

Great pic, your Auto Tech doesn't look like she cares about anything except that you're bothering her.

Not sure if this would help? You can just cut out the bad area and replace it with a new section of firewall padding with heat resistant adhesive?
Good luck!

Just curious if anyone knows what the firewall looks like without the padding? I am sure it is there for sound deadening and the 5.0 kicks out a TON of heat... But have you considered just removing it for awhile?

I've thought about removing it and some have told me that they like the way it looks without it. Replacing it looks really tough.

This stuff has potential for me. It's sticky and maybe putting this over the damage in creative way could make me happy.

VidPro, I'd be interested in some sort of heat resistant outer covering. As we discussed on the "got dam" critter thread, I might need something for the battery cover. I don't think replacement will work because in my case it just turned brittle and deteriorated.

You might find something here. https://www.heatshieldproducts.com

Same stuf but more of a carbon fiber look. I like the look of this.
