Finish suspension or wheels?
Finish suspension or wheels?
Sooo... I have about 2k to spend and I am looking for some opinions. I just got some springs installed about a month ago and I am nervous about driving on the stock shocks/struts with the new springs. I also don't like my stock wheels/tires. Should I do the smart thing and get the suspension finished? Or can I wait a year on the suspension and get some wheels/tires? I don't have it in the budget for both. Thanks!
Whats your plans with the car? If you don't really plan on tracking the car all that often and you're happy with the stance and how the car rides I'd say get some wheels. What wheels have you been looking to get?
why dont you give me the 2k, then ill kick you in the nuts and we will call it a day?
(remember that from a movie...)

Get a set of Koni STR.T's which are on sale for another week, run you like $325, and find a set of wheels too. There are some great deals out there on used sets.
For street driving, I'm not convinced an upgraded suspension is worth the money. Unless you don't like the ride (and are only street driving) with the springs and OEM shocks/struts, you can live with that too.
What are you looking for in terms of wheels/tires? There are some good tires out there at reasonable prices.

that with the Koni's dmichaels suggested, and you're still in budget

lol texas...
I daily drive this car. I was concerned about the suspension because some people on here say that just doing the springs is a half a** job and that you will encounter problems down the road if you don't replace the stock struts/shocks with a lowered car. I don't plan on ever tracking the car. What do you guys think?
As for wheels, thanks for the ebay link, but 255 is too narrow for my taste. I want at least 275's in the back. I saw some RTR's on hypermotive for a nice price, and I also really like the Forgestar's.
I was looking at American Muscle for wheels, but have heard mixed reviews... not to mention that they are almost always out of stock on items.

Here area couple of options that fall close to the 2k range with tires in size 20.
Avant Garde Wheels (310/ 510/ 368/ 590) http://www.hypermotive.com/avant-garde-wheels/
Rohana wheels (RC7, RC22) http://www.hypermotive.com/rohana-wheels/
Niche Wheels (I really like the Verona's) http://www.hypermotive.com/niche-wheels/
And as anyone will tell ya, just contact myself or Dan for pricing as well always give forum discounts

I drove my last mustang for about 25k on the stock springs and struts with zero issues and the Eibach pro kit. Its not going to do damage to your car. They may wear down faster so you have to replace them sooner but it's not vital. You should be able to easily get another 30-40k out them. Upgraded suspension is a recommended upgrade not a mandatory one with springs.
I'd invest the $2k in some wheels. That's a pretty decent budget. You can just about anything in 20s for that except something like Vossens, Forgestar, or any of the premier brands. Some Niche's would look pretty sweet.

+1
I added Eibach pro kit, plus camber bolts with new wider wheels and rubber. The combo has delivered exactly what I need for now. So spending something on lowering springs and a bunch on footwear gets my vote, based on what you are saying.
Mmm Forgestar F14s? Tellin ya, for $100 the spacers make your stock wheels look a lot better. This is exactly what I'm doing when my car comes in. I already have my Koni Yellows, FRPP K-Springs (Burton's used springs), Maximum Motorsports CC plates (bought barely used) and spacers waiting for my car. I just need an adjustable PHB and I'm good to go.

Yeah, thats what I was eyeing up. Or if I really want to break the bank I'd go with the Shelby CS1 wheels. What spacers did you get? The thing that sucks is the GT/CS stock tire is 245. I feel like the wheels don't match the aggressiveness of the car and it drives me nuts. I wish the CS had the brembo wheel option.
Here's the spacers I got for Jason (stangfoeva on here):
