Filling tank issue
Filling tank issue
Every time I try to put a certain amount of gas in the car or fill it, it will always stop randomly. I've read on some forums and think it's the evap canister. Has anyone had this issue and how did you resolve it?

I spent 7 years having to hold the pump handle upside down on my '05 to get it to fill. Folks had reported having the dealer replace the fuel tanks, only to have the issue return so I skipped that.
My '12 never has any problem.
I think the saddle design of the two fuel tanks, plus the connection tube in between can be finiky and is the culprit. I know on the '05 I found certain gas stations where it was never an issue, so maybe delivery pressure was also at play.

3 of the 8 pumps at the EXxon station i use near my house will kick off when not full on my 2011 Mustang and our (wife and i) 2014 Edge. We just avoid those 3 pumps when we get gas
My Family use to own a Union 76 station for many years. All pump Handel's have the safety mechanism to stop from over filling. They are suppose to be set to a standard but they are not. The bigest problem is usually not getting the air out of the tank fast enough. Simply pull out the neck of the pump that is going into the tank to let more air in. Solves the problem every time.

Also, remember most paid repairs done at a Ford Dealer come with a 24 months/unlimited miles warranty.

On my 08 Bullitt it fills fine but I have noticed on a long trip (where I need a full tank - not 7/8ths full) first click is sometimes a gallon or two shy of full. So I let it fill for about 8 gallons, then stop it and pull the nozzle out for a few minutes to let air in to settle the fuel across both tanks, then restart the nozzle and let it auto-stop at first click.
Kind of a pain but I only do it on long trips. However, my (old) F150 clicks early most of the time. It's a Ford trait.

That's why they now say don't "top off" click after click. Stop at the first click.

Sounds like you have a melted vent tube. Have you had any exhaust work done to the car? I would check around the OTA pipe and see if you can't find a burnt spot in the hose. All you need to do is cut that section out and replace it.
This would seem unlikely to me since it appears to be a fairly common issue, and not just with one model.

Have you filled it beyond the first click a number of times? As in 'topped off'? If so you may have filled into the overflow tube and loaded the canister. Should be easy to replace yourself or a non Dealer shop should do it for less.
