Factory Remote Start on 2011 Mustang
Just got a 2010 Escape Hybrid (it's a company car, and its not a Prius, so don't flog me!) with remote start and it has a separate key fob for the remote start. And it drives me NUTS that it honks the horn to let you know that it received the command to start it, then it honks again to let you know it started. If it doesn't start for whatever reason, it honks 3 times! The neighbors love that when I remote start it at 4am!
In my opinion, its not nearly as well integrated as the remote start in my wife's Grand Cherokee that actually turns the heat or AC up to high when its remote started and turns on the defroster if the heat is on. We'll see how Ford improves that in the 2011s.

Yeah, it'd be nice if it was a red/green light on the FOB feedback telling you it was started succesfully (green) or flashing red (failed)
heated stearing wheel..ok I guess... if I drove in winter months (but I'd use it in the fall/spring..just like heated seats.
Hey Ford... respond to our desires for cooled seats too... we know you already have them :P

I think its more a liability thing.
Best practice on a manual is to place it in gear, so that incase the parking/E-Brake fails, the car won't go anywhere.
Having a remote start on it, would have people disobeying one of the cardinal rules of owning a manual.
No WAY you're catching me leaving it in N only.

I would like to second, third, and give every ounce of support to the demand for air conditioned seats. Hands down the most desired feature on the Mustang for me. I LOVE driving cars with air conditioned seats. Taurus has them, make them an option. Me want.
If this becomes standard across the line of vehicles, it'd be nice if Ford would be able to retrofit the system onto some previous models... like my 07 FX4...
I hope they leave the climate control / defrost / heated seats auto-start computer programming in a manual mustang.. allowing us to install the auto-start aftermarket and still have those features.
I don't mind shouldering the liability, Ford.

There are a ton of horror stories surrounding manual transmission vehicles and remote start. I would never, ever, install one.
I'm with ya there sponkey.
Heated/cooled seats are weird. The first time I drove a car with heated seats, I wasn't aware it even had them. It was an odd experience. I was just sure I'd pooped my pants.
I think if I were concerned about the seats being too hot or too cold, I'd rather just save money and go with cloth. Problem solved.

same here... that's why i like cloth as well, but there are some options (like track pack) that you can't get in the deluxe, plus the steering wheel is real basic on the deluxe. no cloth option on the premium.
Understood. And I definitely prefer the look/feel and ease to clean of leather. I just don't "get" heated/cooled seats.
I'm sure if I lived in an extreme hot or cold place, my opinion would differ.

If you had to wake up at 6am, go out to your car that even in a garage has been cold soaking in 0 degree temps for 10 hours and have to drive an hour to work, you'd think the person who thought up putting heating elements in seats deserved an international award for scientific progress.
Do you wear some sort of gluteal orthotic like Hank Hill or something? 'Cause even my bony *** warms up a cold winter seat in a matter of seconds.
Now the heated steering wheel thing, I could see some value in. That takes a lot longer.
