Engagement Gift
Engagement Gift
My fiance and I got engaged last night and she wants to get me a gift. She already mentioned that she would like to get the Moroso Coolant Tank, which I've wanted. Is there something else I should get instead? Budget is ~$200.

IMHO, car parts are not suitable engagement gifts. An engagement gift should be more personal, something that reminds you of your relationship every time you see it. It should also be something that you wear or see every day for many decades. Really, how long do you expect to keep this particular car? Even if the answer is forever, how often are you going to look at the coolant tank? Even more than that, does looking at a coolant tank really remind you of your past and future happiness with your fiancée?
Or to put it another way, an engagement gift should be so personal and connected to your current partner that your next wife will make you throw it away before she marries you. Oh, and congrats on getting engaged.

I was thinking more along the lines of a box of condums.
Well less than $200 and the savings that comes from not raising kids (Well north of $200) can be put towards your car habit. Win-win situation, huh?

Congrats brother, dont bother with the car parts as many have already said. If she wants to get you something let her get you a watch or a tie, something of that manner. I bought my finance a coolant tank when we got engaged just sounds pretty funny.... we get it though, we are all car guys

Congratulations on your engagement. I say get whatever she wants to get you. If it's car parts, then so be it.
I'm engaged as well and have been for probably 8 years. Just haven't finalized it yet. I guess after being divorced once, I'm in no hurry. LOL I will have to soon though since my fiancee is getting impatient.
Hey, feel lucky, I didn't get a gift at engagement time.

BTW, she's a beauty. You're a lucky man. Oh, and buy her flowers now and then just because. That'll keep the num-nums comin'.
