Embarrased to drive
Embarrased to drive
So it is now officially embarrassing to drive my one month old 5.0. When I accelerate slow from a stop it squeels so loud till I hit the brakes. When I am cruising at any speed the car is making a squealing sound till I hit the brakes. It sounds like change rattling but extremely high pitched. I have to roll up my windows just so I cant hear it. Oh yea and my brakes squeal too when coming to a slow stop. So ****ing embarrassing to have a brand new car that sounds like it is 20 years old.
Tried to go to the dealer today and of course service for some reason is closed on Saturday. I went to a brake place close to my house and apparently they have seen quite a few brembo 5.0's come in with the same issue. He said it is the clamps on the rotors going bad which is causing the rotors to not stay secure or something like that. So Monday we will see what Ford says.
Then drive around a bit to cool them down. The pads need to be bedded in..
Isn't that for brakes squealing when you brake? This is when I am driving, the only time the squeal stops is when I brake.. I have already done the braking in of the brakes. There are apparently clamps that keep the pads secure, (I think I meant the pads instead of the rotors). So I think the pads may be loose and that is causing the squeaking when I drive. I am wondering if maybe the pads aren't fully disengaging from the rotors when I let off the brake. The brake place also said they can feel a lip forming on the eges of the rotors, and my back brakes have bluing on them already.

you can get a high frequency vibration that equals squealing or a high pitched whistle-like sound in the pads when driving, usually it occurs when lightly applying the brakes
the "clamps" are probably the tabs for the pads that create the pressure that holds them in place in the caliper, they can make that noise
anti-squeal grease on the pad backs where they touch the caliper and on the tabs where they touch the pad backing edges can cure the noise

Yea that didnt work for me, see if I can get off work next week and see what the dealer says. I am worried that they will pull the normal wear item and it wont get fixed under warranty. Crossing my fingers.

If it continues for another few weeks, I'll go back again.
Yea screw that, I have to roll my windows up and even then I can still kind of hear it. So they better not pull that replicate the issue bs with me. I hear it every single time I drive. If I were you I would have the tech ride with you so you can show them yourself.
It's ONLY a wear item if it's actually had time to wear. You should be covered for 1 year or 12k at least.
Yea 1 month seems a bit weird for this to happen. One thing that is weird, a few nights ago I had to do a hard brake and I noticed that the front skipped a bit and the steering was very eradic while braking. Was really weird.
If your pads are messed up make sure they replace those! If your rotors are already showing wear signs and forming a "lip" as you had said, make sure the dealer takes care of that. They'll most likely want to machine your rotors, but there's no harm in trying to get a new set, especially since you've only had it for a month.

The brake guy I spoke to said he has seen 3 brembo cars all in for the same thing. He didn't even look at my car, as soon as I said what was wrong he knew instantly. He said he hasn't seen any V6's or any other mustangs without brembos with the same issue.

Is this a Brembo thing? Hope you get this sorted out properly - would hate to see "brake caliper weights" on these cars.
