Drag racing at Dutchess County Airport?

2 or 3 weeks ago I went by the Dutchess County, NY airport (Poughkeepsie) on a Sunday afternoon and I saw a bunch of hot cars, some Mustangs, leaving the airport. I briefly talked to one Mustang owner who told me that every so often they open the airport for drag racing. Unfortunately I have no other details.

Anyone from the mid-Hudson vally know about this and who runs it? Seems like a great place for us NY owners to get together and say hi.

Joe

www.ultimatestreet.com.. Im in Lagrange, where are you from??... I dont think i have ever seen you around judging by your avatar it looks like you have a 2010 GT? Also, you should get up on this website: www.newyorkmustangs.com if your not already on it for all the local NY stuff!

Wow, excellent! Thanks for the input. I was not aware of either of those sites. When I searched for Mustang events for around here, all I came up with was the Orange County club on the other side of the river near Middeltown.

I am in Wapingers Falls and I just bought my first Mustang, a 2010 GT Prem, July 29. My church is in Lagrange, on Rt 55. Say, you weren't that black Mustang following behind me from Lauer road to Rt 55 a couple of Sundays ago, were you????? There was a black Stang following me and we waved as it turned on to Freedom Road.

It was an 05+, not sure about the loudness as I had the kids and radio on. It was a very nice looking car who ever it was. It would have been around 10:00 am.

That is a long story. At first I went to Miracle Ford and ordered one. But because of the hood scoop/rear pedistal spoiler option, after I ordered it I was told it would be delayed a long time. So I canceled the order and went on line and found the car in Pittsburg. So I flew down and drove it back. It was the only dealer I could find who had the options I wanted.

I used to live in Hopewell. I miss the Hudson Valley! I used to pass the airport on Rt. 376 all the time.

Dutches County FTW! I lived in Pawling NY and hung out in Wappingers all the time at the Dunkin on rt9 across from Wendys. Anyone from that area would know this.. but I miss working as a door man at SMYLES.

Yes, my first Mustang. My last new car was and is my 1978 Z28 Camaro. SInce then I have had big 4x4 SUVs.

I love the looks and ride of the Mustang, the sound system, the history, the sound, etc. It does have a few bugs that I don't like but they are minor. For example, because I am short, I raised the seat up and forward. But now my key chain in the ignition hits my knee. And the AM radio reception sucks, stuff like that.

You be pleased to know that the cop who sits by the graveyard still sits there late at night...

The very same. And the cop still sits at the airport? LOL. Thats great! I remember about5yrs ago that Dunkin used to get imports, domestics, and biks every night during the summer. My friend owned Visions of Speed in Poughkeepsie.
