Dr Jekyll here, but where's Mr Hyde?

I feel like my car is so temperamental. It feels sluggish 95% of the time and the other 5% it feels like a real v8. I always use 91 octane, too. When it's sluggish, it feels like the motor is off cam and can't breathe. When it's running right, it pulls like a demon and actually feels fast. Wth? I have lost confidence in my car's ability to perform.

I also do not notice any difference between the traction control settings.

Anyone else have this issue?

Yes sir indeed, my car feels this way from time to time as well. I can definitely say once 95F+ temperatures hit, the engine performs differently, especially with the AC running non-stop.

Fortunately I know this is not limited to just my 2014, as I had a 2011 and 2012 Mustang 5.0 as well, and all three pretty much did the same thing, with power output seeming to fluctuate.

Sitting in stop/go traffic on the highway the other day while an accident scene was being cleaned up, with the temp at about 99F outside, my 2014 gauge reading for Inlet Air Temperature said 140F. Wonder what the computer does to ignition advance parameters with such high inlet temps. Once I cleared the accident scene and got moving, the inlet air still never read lower than 106F.

I feel the same way man, feels like half the time it doesn't want to pull itself through the rpms. Guess it's just the nature of these new motors.

Paxton with big front mount can solve that problem.

But as the iat goes up, I think anything over 100 it starts pulling timing to keep the motor safe.

You have a manual tranny? Try getting the RPMs up. It'll pull much harder closer to the red line.

Mine pulls like a train all the way to 155 in 5th. Try going 80 and drop it into 3rd then hit the skinny pedal and shift up. Works for me every time and has surprised more than one Porsche owner.

Dont have that problem on my 13. Its a MT and it really has power around 4 or 5K rpms. Lots of fun there! Lol.

To me these engines really desire 'standard condition' SAEJ1349 mean conditions for optimal performance.

I can report the same symptoms during hot, humid NYC city summers - the car becomes ultra sluggish in manhattan bumper to bumper traffic, does not like sitting still. Just the way these engines are as others have said
