Double clutching Pros-Cons

Ok.. So I posted about cold shifts and clunky 2nd & 3rd gears.. A couple people mentioned about double clutching at-least until the fluid & the car warmed up.. I have been doing it while the car & trans were cold... I must say.. 2nd gear is so smooth when shifting like that..
my question now is WHY?
What's the Pros & Cons about double clutching.. thoughts opinions

I'm planning on getting back to the dealer to look at it because on rare occasions 2nd gear even warm .. it just doesn't want to go in.. I have a Hypertech tune and by pass the Skip Shift so I'll to put the car back to factory tuen before I bring it in.

If Ford decides to look in the Pcm they will know it has been flashed. Just a heads up.

According to others, as long as he disconnects his battery and lets it reset...all they will see is that his battery has been disconnected.

You're asking the transmission to do less of an exchange with each movement as opposed to a full shift. Plus synchro mesh is a plus when the transmission is at proper speed with the flywheel. Synchronous gears are a revolution but double clutching will always be a benefit. To you and your car.

I double-clutch on every downshift, only takes a millisecond.
It basically does your synchros work and causes less wear and tear on them.
Plus it's kind of fun

Nope. There is a flash counter on these new cars. I've explained it in another thread. It's detectable

Pros: None
Cons: Takes more time, completely pointless due to synchros.

Takes about a half a second, but I will continue to spoil my synchros.
I'll bet I can double clutch faster than you can downshift

I tried this double clutching on my way home tonight and it didn't have any positive affect on my 2nd gear crunch when cold.

Push the clutch in, go to nuetral, let the clutch out, blip throttle to proper rev range, put the clutch in, select the gear, let the clutch out.

Sounds like it takes a while but that is about half a second once you get used to it, the transition to the lower gear is like the car is not even on.

The only time I double clutch the way you all describe is when the transmission won't go into gear easily. It's a reflex action when the transmission is balky.

You don't even have to push the clutch all the way in while in neutral. If you know where the engagement point is, and as a sports car owner....you should, then you only need to barely go past where the clutch fully engages.

When my car is cold, and I've done this for all my manual cars and trucks, I just do it out of a love for my transmission!
