Don't buy a fuel filter

Little did I know the '11 has a fuel filter that doesn't have to be changed like previous models. I was so happy when my fuel filter arrived in the mail. Got the car on the lift and there isn't a fuel filter to be found. Looked in the manuel and it said "sucker". These part stores are selling fuel filters for '11's and there is no place to put it. I'm sending the it back along with a good cussing out.

Many cars these days are coming out of the factory with a "built in" filter, which means you don't have to change it until/unless your pump goes out, as the filter is attached. Its less regular maintenance.

Yes, V6 uses the same pump/filter as the GT.

Whoa, wait, what? Wow, that's... interesting.

So... uh... man, I have to think on this one. This seems very wrong to me.

So the filter is part of the pump, and that's inside the tank. Fair enough. I'm then guessing that the filter's particles that's being filtered then fall off it after the pump is shut off? Or are they stuck?

Further, if the particles get jammed in the filter, doesn't that mean that the filter itself is the cause of the gasoline-lubricated pump? Is it before the pump or after?

Someone has to explain it to me if I didn't get that sorta right. Or a link is fine... That just seems so... ODD to me.

/And I don't like it.
//Not one bit.
///But I will accept it, I'm sure it's engineered for lots'o miles and tons'o time, yeah?

According to what I can find in the manual, there is a "lifetime" filter as part of the fuel pump module assembly for V6's and GT's, only the GT500 has a replaceable filter and it is the standard style inline filter.

Well, looks like they have screwed up their catalogs again, and not just those two, looked at a few others and they show the same filter error in theirs. They all probably use the same company to put their online catalogs together.
