Did your oil change add rocket boosters?

Ok so, I got my first oil change last Thursday, and immediately after that happened, I had about 4200 miles when I had it changed at the dealership. As soon as I pulled out, I squealed the tires using the same amount of gas I usually use. I have noticed the car is much smoother and significantly easier than it did before. Has anyone else seen this happen? Could the dealership have done an ECU update of some kind? The car was no slouch before, but it has changed to the point of what I would imagine a tune would have done to it. No complaints!!! And for the records, I have no mods, 5.0, 6A.

I would think they probably did the ECU change. Check your receipt.

I am basically saying no way a oil change can change the experience like you state. I was probably thinking they may have flashed the ECU.. Not saying they did but.. Its a stumper.

Its the same as how a clean car feels faster, fresh oil has the same effects

With only a couple of oil changes???

I have 5 changes on mine now (24K on engine); runs the same as it did with the first oil change. I'd call the dealer and talk with the service manager to see if anything additional was done while it was there.

Perhaps there was gravel/sand on the exit as you drove off. I'd say an oil change is not in any way going to promote "instant" power gains.

Well thats kind what I am wondering, I didn't report any problems, and I looked at the receipts, and there is no mention of any updates. The power wasn't a one time thing, I've chirped the tires several times since then without meaning to. Just seems odd....but no complaints!!!

they are not going to reflash a ecu or change anything and not tell you...engines do loosen up and feel stronger...however maybe its just the OP who didnt have his car for a day and it felt new to him...who knows

No, I only spent about 30 minutes without the car, it was just the initial service oil change and tire rotation. I don't remember having this happen on my 07 GT tho....however I'm wondering if its not just the calm before the storm since I have an appt Thursday to get the control arms replaced, since they developed the load groan that a few others have had.

....must have been the tire rotation.....they may have checked the pressure and maybe added some air, making the tires easier to spin.

As strange as it may seem, you're not alone.

I've got a V6, and had a very noticable performance improvement with the first oil change. And it's measurable. I was averaging a steady 22.3 mpg before the oil change, and 24.1 mpg since the oil change, with no change in my route or driving habits.

When I step on the throttle hard it is unquestionably faster. The violence of the back end squatting on gear changes is not something you just imagine. I wish I had taken it to a track before and after for proper timeslip comparison, but my gut tells me it's a .2 to .3 second improvement in the 1/4.

And I know it's nothing the dealership did because I did my own oil change. Nothing else on the car has been changed mechanically or electronically.
