Amazing how they chose to cut corners and save money. Oh well, I'm willing to give up floor mats and manually adjust the seatback in exchange for that sweet high-revving 5.0

Cool

You were expecting them?
Why?
They never put them in before.
Are you expecting to actually put people back there on a regular basis?

Every other car I have ever had (including a 96 GT) had front and back mats...so yes, I expected them. I put my son back there regularly if my wife is riding shotgun.

None of the S197 GTs ever came with rear mats.
I bought new cars many years before '96 and after that didn't have rear mats.
I guess you have always been blessed with mats.
Try these:

I may be getting some myself for my cars.

I didn't get any rears in my GT and the mats I got up front were the cheapest of cheap crap. I bought a set of FOUR Lloyd's mats and absolutely LOVE them. I highly recommend them.

'94 thru '98 Mustangs did not have rear mats available from the FACTORY either. Your '96 must have had dealer installed rear mats.

I have the Lloyds 4 piece mat set. Make sure the set you order is the one you want because i think they also sell a 2 piece set. (front mats only).

+1. I totally expected them to come with it. I even called my dealership rep and she thought they came also; it was only after she checked with her manager that she found out they didn't come with them.

I found it odd that recent cars I've owned that cost less (Honda) the same (Acura) or more (BMW) all came with rears and the Mustang doesn't. How much more does it add to the cost? Negligible.

The Lloyds look very nice on the website.
Trying to decide on either the 5.0 badge or the Running Horse from CJ Pony Parts.

Did you get one of these or a different one?

I never even knew the 11's were different?
seems like a weird change to put in place.

I use the mats from my last car. Funny though no rear mats.

You can see the difference right from the site you linked. The '10 mats have a hook, but the '11 mats appear to have two pins to hold them in place. It may have been something due to customer complaint or issues that they implemented for '11.

I got the stylized "GT" logo in silver. Goes great with my 401A interior!
