Cross-Generation Dilemma

I really hope they begin releasing some factual information on the 2015 Mustangs soon. I'm trying to decide on either the 2014 or 2015 but would like to order the 2014 (if so decided) rather than looking through inventories. I really don't have any issues with either the SRA or the IRS. I was hoping the 2014 would be the 50th Anniversary, but it's looking more like that moniker may go to the 2015.

Anyone with any insights?

Thanks!

You should be able to special order a 2014 until fairly late 2013. By then there ought to be more info out on the 2015, so you can make a more informed decision.

well, that's the first I've heard of a 2014 1/2 ... wonder if the redesign will be for that limited run, or the 2015's...

The way I read it is that 2014 1/2 will be the current outgoing style's very last show.
The redesign is scheduled for MY 2015 which will be the 51st year of mustang.

MY 2015 is still the 50th anniversary... I don't call my 2013 a 2012 1/2, though I rightfully could just because I got mine in earlyish 2012. The first MY for the Mustang is still 1965, even if it was out in mid 1964. The MY for my car is still 2013, even if it was out in early 2012. They're ramping up model year dates early on purpose. Heck, Chevrolet just started 2013 Camaros.

I just hope the 2014 1/2 Anniversary Stang doesn't look anything like this:

And pays the appropriate type of homage, like this:

I know they're coming out with a black appearance package for 2014 so hopefully there will be some sort of anniversary badging on it.

Please keep in contact with your dealer and once you decide and place your order, send me your order number and dealer info so I can track it for you.

Have a good one!

Hi, Andrea!

That's one more confirmed new information I've seen thus far -- the 2014 1/2 being the 50th Anniv. That's what some of us were speculating.

Also, the other speculation is that the 2014 1/2 will be the MY 2015 (not the MY 2014) which will be introduced on the 50th anniversary of the Mustang.

Now, I just need to see what the new model will look like.

Thanks, again, Andrea!

That's what my plans are, too. Hence my wish to get the full information on the new model before the ordering closes for the 2014.

I have a feeling the 2014 will be a hot seller.

Any particular reason why?

My take? With the all new S550 unlikely to be on sale before April 2014, that makes the '14 model year a long one (usually, we'd expect to the '15 to order November 2013) so that extra 6 months would make sense for a 2014.5MY.......although I wouldn't hold out for much more than a sticker job, as Ford resources will be busy getting S550 ready for launch.

Or..............perhaps the '14.5 will be more than a sticker job.....perhaps we'll get that Boss motor and suspension in a subtle Anniversary package

Your not taking into consideration the down time for retooling for both the Fusion, in 2013 and the new 2015 Mustangs in 2014.

I like where your head's at. I sure hope they do some 2014.5 anniversary special edition. Especially for me because my 2014 is not going to be my daily driver so a little extra rareity could help me in the long run.

Good point. I wouldn't expect retooling be a quick process, but 6 months? Guess time will tell

From what I have read, Ford wants to have the 2015 Mustangs on dealers floors on Apr 17, 2014 to commemorate the Mustangs 50th Anniversary.

This still makes the most sense to me.............so, S550 would have to be shown at either LA in November 2013, Detroit in January '14 or New York in April '14.

Whilst NY would be nice from a historical perspective (given Mustang was launched at the World Fair in NY), that seems a little late...........unless Ford expect people to order S550 sight unseen, which I guess is possible.

So many options.............so many possibilities

I would never get a 1st year car, so if you want the next generation wait until 2016.
