Contacting Ford Engineering
Contacting Ford Engineering
Does anybody have contact information for Ford field engineering?
I know I've seen all the contact information up the chain on here, but for the life of me I can't seem to find it via search.
I need to speak with either a regional rep or field engineer about circumstances that I'm having with my vehicle that I refuse to leave unresolved without answer.
Thanks guys!

I don't think that the engineer that designed the dual clutch on a Focus or the windshield wipers on the Flex is going to help with the issue.
To get "action" you need to contact someone involved in (1) the Mustang line and (2) in the division that is the root of the concern (Powertrain, etc).
I know you're attempting to help, but you may as well have been posting the Dearborn phonebook.
No offense, but what's been posted here is next to useless. Call Ford CS, talk with someone above a rep, and get the ball rolling. I'm not exactly sure what "issues" you're having, but I can bet that you'll get more results that way than gambling on an engineer that probably won't be the person who ultimately helps "fix" your issues.
Jason, can you elaborate on your issue? There are plenty of people on here who might be able to pass it on to the appropriate people if you go into more detail.

Try this link from the Ford customer relationship center.

You need to go from the Beginning, starting with Customer Service, if they cannot help they will send you up the line, I ended up talking to a VP with my 2002 Explorer just before they bought it back.
Thanks for the info guys.
I'm not having a problem with my dealer. They are working with me as best they can. However they can only do what Ford approves and right now, ford is saying a knock that is in my engine that can be felt through the valve-covers, in the transmission shift **** and heard over the radio is normal. Yet they will not say what causes the noise if it is normal.
So I need to get in contact with somebody and actually have an engineer come take a look at the car and see for themselves. So far they have been unwilling to do so.

After purchase of the vehicle, the night I purchased it I noticed a knocking noise coming from the engine at idle. This knock could be felt through the shift lever and at times in the pedals. This noise develops as the car warms up. It is not a cold temperature symptom.
The day after initial purchase I also received a check engine light for low catalyst performance. While the bad catalytic converter was being replaced by the dealership I had them check out the noise at the same time. The car had 150 miles on it at that point.
They verified it existed but could not pinpoint it's origin. Ford hotline advised them that it was characteristic of engine and may have something to do with the AC accessory belt. The dealer tech advised me of this, but stated I should bring the car in if symptoms worsen.
With the weather warming up and me able to drive the car a little more spiritedly from time to time I have noticed an increase in the symptoms from the car. The knocking is louder and where originally it was arrhythmic, sounding more like morse-code, it is now pretty rhythmic and tends to knock on an rpm driven pattern. The noise has gotten to the point that it can be heard over the radio when listened to at a normal to low volume.
I've spent my life around cars and engines. If this noise was coming from an old 4.6 car, chevy 350 etc. the very first thing I'd be doing is disconnecting cylinders one at a time to check for a possible spun rod bearing. That's how the knocking sounds.
Fast forward to last week I finally decided I needed to pop the hood and check things out for myself. When placing your hand on the valve covers and the heads, you can feel a very distinct hit that corresponds with the engine knock. It feels like somebody with a hammer is hitting the underside of the heads. Although you can only hear the noise at idle, I verified that it's still there, but faintly when the engine rpm's increase.
With this knowledge in hand, I scheduled an appointment to have the car looked at again. It had 2004 miles on it when it entered the dealership.
The Service writer advised there was a directive stating this noise was normal. He also stated that if I keep bringing it in Ford will not honor a warranty service for that particular item as it's deemed "normal." The dealership looked over the car that day and I spoke with them around closing time. The Adviser stated to me that the tech's felt the noise to be excessive and Ford would be contacted the next day. Ford has not sent a field engineer to look at the car. They had the tech run a compression test and check the oil level, both of which are fine.
They advised again "characteristic of engine" and no repair recommended at this time. I have asked several times the "why" of the case. If it's normal operation, what causes the knock? That's all I'm after right now. If it's normal, that's fine. But I need to know why it's normal.
I'm not an engineer myself, but I've worked closely with several in the past. Anything like this that crops up during R&D is investigated until the source is discovered and can be attributed as not a problem. But I don't know how ford does their testing and R&D.
So my adviser sent me on my way simply stating that I have plenty of warranty left. That's a bad spot to be left in. I don't know if this really is a normal characteristic, or if there is something else going on.
It also limits my ability to do anything at all to this car. If I want to put an intake tune and exhaust on it, I run the risk of the engine going south, then having to fight the dealer and ford for a problem that may have been there from the moment the car left the line. Fortunately, it's been documented at this point.
This is my 5th Mustang and 7th Ford over all. I'm a loyalist to the brand, but I have to say, this is souring me on the brand.
Jason, I'm sorry that I can't help you, but I must say that it is an absolute pleasure to see such well spoken/written individual on the forum.
Best of luck!

I am curious...if this is considered a normal noise associated with this engine, then why are we all not experiencing it? I have 6600 miles on the engine and it is quiet, both at speed and at idle, sitting in the garage. Ford needs to explain to you why this noise is not an across the board event with this engine, if it is considered normal as they say.
NORMAL for this engine sounds like BS!
Just calling it the way I see it!
My car has 2,400 miles on it & has no ticking or tapping noise at all.Hoping it stays that way. Some other owners have reported noise after oil changes. With 2,400 miles on her my car has the original oil.
If it's NORMAL ha ha ask them why all other owners are not experiencing the same noise.Seems to me some of them make noise & some of them don't.If it were NORMAL wouldn't all of them make the noise?
Please FORD some real answers would be nice.Making me worry about my car developing this problem. Also if it's a normal operating noise WHAT IS MAKING THE NOISE?Why does this seem to be a SECRET?
To the OP this would not be an acceptable explanation from FORD for me!Hope that FORD figures this out & takes care of their customers the proper way.If my car develops this noise I will expect it to be repaired!

This may be hard to do to something you love...but what if you bounce it off the limiter a couple times until it becomes a legitimate warrantee claim? Not saying this is a good way or something you'd expect to do with a new car...but it could end well!? But tell them you were taking grandma to church and it just stopped
