Well the Dealership we bought the car from was contacted by Ford PR this morning after seeing a post "Online" (It had to be here).
They noticed that I had mentioned that this was the first Mustang I had seen in public hands. Well they called to tell us it is the VERY FIRST 2011 Mustang sold to the public.
Plus they want to interview my Mother and invite her down to the plant.
My Mom is yet to call them back (dont panic).
So I will will let you know more as it comes and if an article/pictures result from this I will be sure to post them here!
I thought that it was a pretty cool gesture esp considering we are enthusists.
Too bad I wont be the first 5.0 in public hands

Totally cool! Seems quite a coincidence that you're a Ford employee... Definately a hard-core enthusiast family, having ordered two 2011's. This is a distinction you guys will always have and rememeber. Awesome!

That's awesome about the plant tour, maybe these people are a little more serious about getting you through there.

Keep us posted. Thats one of the coolest things I have heard in a while. Its good to know Ford is watching the forums and listening to us. They are just doing about everything right these days. I almost have my Dad convinced to buy a Ford the next time instead of a dreaded Toyota yet again.
I know he will at least test drive them. Tell your Mom a big congrats from me and make the most out of it. I bet it will be a great tour and I would be tore to pieces if it were me. Sounds very exciting to say the least.

I just think ford is doing the best right now domestically as far as still being american minded but also taking just the right things from other parts of the industry while still remaining "american".
All you can ask for is a test drive, although lately i have seen that convert many a people that used to be import/chevy people.

They like most everything they have driven and always comment how far along Ford has come. They are still a bit leary of the long term reliability. They have had such good luck from Toyotas its really hard to convince them but they are coming around slowly. I cant stress how much it matters to have a good dealer like ours. They let them drive anything with no questions asked. I know its a hassle for them but how in the world can you sell cars unless you open things up. Kudos to them for being so helpful. I wish Ford corporate would make the dealers more open like ours is. It would help the company as a whole. I know when I was younger they just blew me off at times when I had the money in my pocket.
We have a few really good dealers on this site that contribute. Jeff and the 5.0 Brian guy who I can think of his name right now from Washington? These guys are both enthusiasts who have a deep passion for Mustangs are are really helpful. I would gladly give them a few extra bucks instead of some idiot that does not know a GT from a Focus. That kind of stuff matters to me. I really thank them for being on the site because I can tell they are true Mustang people. They just happen to sell them too.
That is way cool Shawn, congrats to your mom and family !!
My car was built on 4/15 and is scheduled to arrive the week of 4/26 ... it will "most likely" be the "first" 2011 Mustang registered where I live if not the whole county.
All three of my SN-95's were ordered / delivered near the END of the model year, so this is kind of exciting finally being part of the first shipment of a new model year !!
