Considering trading in my 13' GT Advice needed
I'll be upfront I'm not one to make the best financial decisions so I'm trying to slow myself down and think about this. In July I Financed a 2013 Mustang GT base 6 speed that has 7,000 mi. on it now.
Issues/Regrets: #1 The color is just OK for me, it was the car that was available then and there and went for it.
#2 I bought the base edition with the intention of replacing most of the parts with aftermarket. I am now realizing how expensive these upgrades will be. Specifically the Recaro's, Wheels, and Brembo's.
What I want: I owe 28,000 on the car and I am interested in a 2013 Grabber Blue 6 speed Track Pack or even a Premium. I'm not sure what they are going for. Can someone break this down a bit as far as the financial aspect? Would I need to give another down payment?
Thank you I would really appreciate the advice!

Youre going to lose your *** on this. Why not just buy what you want(seats, wheels ,brakes) one at a time and slowly add to the car you have. Do you REALLY need all of it at once? If done over time you can still get what you want without the major hit to the wallet this will take doing at all at once. I bought my 2011 base 5.0 and have owned for over 2 years now slowly adding what I want to it. Its your car, money etc.

All of the above is correct. You have depreciation of the car that will eat you alive. I did the same thing once but for different reasons. I came up with a large down that basically covered my upside down portion on the loan. My payments went up a lot for only a small amount more financed. You can plug all of the financials into Edmunds.com and see what you will lose. Edmunds has a trade in estimate, a market value for purchase, and a payment estimator. Just use your current interstate rate and term of loan.
I would say think of this in positive terms. You can build the exact car you want piece by piece. As far as color, unless you hate the color, I think these grow on you. I didn't want the color of my Stang but the deal was too good to pass up. After a month, it has become my car and I couldn't imagine buying something else. I wanted grabber blue myself.

See what you can get on a trade.
Figure you are going to lose a few grand there.
Say they give you 26K-27K for your car...
So 2K upside down
say the new car is $32,500, I think that is what I paid for a Base Track pack, Recaros and 301A....
So figure around $6,500 difference between what you owe and the new car.
Tax on the new car?
Does your state offer a tax credit when you trade for a new car?
That can save you thousands.
I think you are looking close to $10,000 to change cars.
Not too mention all the monthly payments you already made.
I wouldn't do it.
Good Luck either way.

I too wanted grabber blue or race red but settled on a leftover 2012 base gt in performance white because like someone else said, the deal was too good to pass up. I ll admit that after the first couple of months and seeing everyone drive around in there 13's, I started feeling regret about the color, the base package, and the missing ammenities of the new 13'; but now after about 6 months and some exterior and performance mods, I love my car. The decision is ultimately yours but you have to ask yourself, is this car I wish I would have gotten worth another 10K on top of what I m paying now. Good luck

This is why you dont settle and not let impetience get the best of you. This is why i ordered and didnt settle. Its a big chunk of money so why not spend a little more and get what you really want in the first place. This is a prime example of how age doesnt mean crap regarding brains and maturity.

What color did you buy? Vinyl wraps have gotten very good these days. I'd vinyl wrap it Grabber Blue (maybe even matte Grabber Blue to be different) and get one of your mods every 6 months or so, if you can afford that. The wrap will a) protect your paint so you don't have to worry about waxing it or scratches and b) you can custom design it however you want - i.e. stripes or graphics. It's a win-win.

I was impatient too and now have some regrets, especially the color. You will lose a lot on the trade but if its not much money to you then it's okay. The reply about the wrap is a good idea, get a custom color that no one else has. I thought about a carbon fiber wrap but 5k was too much for my happiness ha ha. Aftermarket upgrades are almost always better though.

That hurts my brain to even think about making a trade like that. Best go to Costco and see if they sell lube in 5 gallon buckets, you're going to need it.
