I've had this happen before. Take the little white plastic thing the car came with. It's the thing you insert in the fuel filler hole to be able to put gas in your car from a gas can. Use that and insert it into the filler opening a couple of times. It will clear whatever it is that's keeping it from closing all the way. Sometimes, that flapper valve just gets stuck slightly open for no reason. So using that white plastic thing will help it to close properly.

Edit: Check this link for more info. Page 7 mentions the message you're getting.

I've only had to do that once in the 1.5 years I've had this 2011 GT. The message will reset and go away pretty quick.

Same problem, go to the dealer

I had the same issue & tried the white tube as well. That didnt work for my situation.
The dealer kept the car for a day and a half because they figured out it was the fuel neck, had to order the part & and replaced it.

I thought things were fine but the message popped up again recently.

I believe the problem is due to the fule system not having a traditional gas cap that will seal the system.

Could you get a filler neck and cap for a 2010 and fix the problem?

Unsure

I am unsure about switching parts from a 2010 but I didnt buy a new car to work on. I bought a new car for the expectations that it would be reliable.

But this new car spends more time in the shop than any other new car I have purchased.

I contacted Deysha through IM and have not heard back from her on the front suspension issue(s), let alone this issue.

You should have one, in the trunk with the spare tire and jack. Mine was tucked in the lug wrench cover.

Also, I purchased the locking plug, from Ford, and have never seen the message. Very easy to use, not a hassle at all. The capless refueling thing never made a lot of sense to me.

It should be in your trunk. Just below the spare tire cover. Just lift up the spare tire cover and it should be in there. If not, make your dealer order you one.

Hi pony racer,

Glad to see you’re working with your dealer. I’d like to escalate this to the Customer Service Manager for your area to help this get resolved for you. Please PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, and contact info so I can help.

thank you Deysha,

but i don't think it's going to be needed.. the SM is a personal friend..
he actually listens when i tell him what my car is doing (unlike the dealer i purchased it from), esp. when he swings by my house.
