Can't decide on 18" or 19" wheels
The ’12 will be here in a couple of weeks and I still haven’t decided on 18” or 19” wheels yet. I’m going with TSW Nurburgrings in matte gunmetal. I have it narrowed down to one of two options. First choice:
Front: 235/50-18 (dia. 27.3) on an 18x8
Rear: 275/45-18 (dia. 27.7) on a 18x9.5
The reason I’m leaning towards this, instead of a staggered 19” setup is I’m planning on going FI shortly (6 - 12 months from now) and I can then replace the rears with a drag radial. Either an M&H in a 275/45-18 or even a Falken in 295/40-18 if I get a wider set of rear wheels. I don’t think the difference in diameter between front and back is an issue, but I don’t know for sure.
The second choice is:
Front 245/45-19 (dia. 27.7) on a 19x8
Rear: 275/40-19 (dia. 27.7) on a 19x9.5
I think this would look a little better with the larger wheels, and should work good while NA, but it’s a dead end after that. Plus I’m concerned that with the smaller sidewall on the front tire, the rims would be more prone to bending from all the potholes in our crap roads in this state.
Any thoughts?

Ive got the trac pack 19" wheels on my 2010. They look very good but tire selection is slim. If i had it to do over i would have the 18". Probably the gt500 with the 10" wides for the rears. I may still change them. Jdm has a pretty decent price on the gt500 combination set.

18's for a much better less expensive tire choices and no loss of handling.
And you do want to keep the front and rear tire diameters as close to the same as possible so it doesn't affect the ABS brakes.

18's for all the reasons mentioned, plus 2 more;
-weight
-19's look too big (obviously a matter of opinion)
btw congtratulations, I've an eta of 5/14

You would need to install lowering springs whether you use 18's or 19's or 20's, tire diameters would remain roughly the same on all so the gap would be the same.

if you dont want the gap you have to lower the car.. works for 18 19 and 20 inch wheels..
from 20ft. you would be hard pressed to tell if the car had 18 or 19 inch tires..
if you care about price and performance, and weight, the 18 is the way to go..
if you just want to be a baller.. well. 20 inches, yo.
