Can anyone help me find out about my order?

Man i am getting the run around from my dealership about my order I placed for a 2011 gt.

I placed the order in late january and when i walked in there they didn't know anything about ordering the new mustang, didn't even know that you could order one yet. Well i told them you could so they went and checked with the order guy and he said yes you can.

So i placed my order had them give me confirmation via the print out and also the DORA print out a couple of days later.

Now i am calling and adking where's my vin, where's my schedule date and they are telling me, well we ordered a stock car 1 week before yours and it should be coming in around the end of april so yours should be in the first week of may.

I really get the feeling that I am getting dicked around here and I am hoping there is some way to contact ford directly and bypass these ********.

Can anyone help please?

They aren't scheduling retail orders yet. I don't think anyone with a retail order has a VIN yet either. Those with VIN# were put in as a stock order and that's why they got their VIN#'s. I was told I had a build date of the 22 of this month and when I called on Monday he couldn't tell me anything new about my order, not even a VIN yet. It seems i'm providing my dealer with more information than they know about the 2011 models.. You aren't the only one getting dicked around, if it makes you feel better. Just trying to be patient now but it's hard when you see some people getting their VIN#'s.

Hey John,

I'm sorry to hear your dealer isn't on the up and up with wanting to help. This is EXACTLY why I didn't change ANY retails I have to stock units, as they may or may not get built right away. The Retail Order Verification Program works and will work for those who waited. I would ask your dealer what they did with your order. If they did go through ROV, or if its a standard stock unit. If its a stock unit, it may not get there any quicker than a retail order as the stock units built will be going into QC for any issues. These cars tend to sit and sit until they finish their checks of them. If you have any questions, your always welcome to PM me or call me. I'm always here to help.

OK this makes me feel much better, not so much that everyone is getting the same run around that I am but it gives me a better answer than they did when they said that the stock orders would arrive before mine.

Thanks for the replies guys..

Bigjohns and Source, I think you guys are being too hard on the dealers. They aren't giving you build dates because Ford doesn't know when they will build them. Ford doesn't want to build special orders until they know there won't be any problems. If they start giving out build dates and a manufacturing problem pops up, it could delay production by weeks. Then they will have customers screaming because "They told me it would be built May 5 and know they say May 26. Those lying bastards!"

I work in a retail store. If someone special orders something and we tell them it will take 1-2 weeks, many customers will call up 5 days later wanting to know if their merchandise is in yet. When you check the status of the order and tell them it will be another week, they get angry because they only heard the "one week" part and not the "to two weeks" part. Even on a product that hasn't been changed in years, there can be production problems and delays. Things happen. It's usually not the case that you are being "dicked around".

I don't have a problem with it not being built yet. I don't care if it's the last one built, I'd actually prefer it to be built after all the stock orders so it isn't sitting in the parking lot for days or weeks.. Just don't tell me " Oh yeah it's being built on this day and we'll have a VIN on this day " and then a few weeks later say " Oh I don't know what's going on with your order, it still says it was supposed to be built four days ago but still no VIN number " just tell me the truth lol
