I learned a long time ago. People with issues post on forums. People that have no issues all do not. So it will seem everyone is having issues when in fact it is only a few.

I think you'll have to sacrifice a live chicken to appease the a/c gods. Ok, maybe a bucket of chicken and Cole slaw.

If your compressor failed, you might count yourself lucky.

For me, it was the evaporator core at about 130k miles. They got to pull out the entire dash to replace it. Original compressor is fine so far.

And I use the whee out of it. Another 90º 70% humidity Virginia day, and I will have the top down and the AC pushing full blast. The only way to fly.

Our Home AC is dying, does that count?

Died Sunday when it was 95, and crazy humidity. "Repaired" late Monday only 91, died again this afternoon only 81! Low humidity and low will be 58 tonight, so we can open the windows. Not sure the Tech on Monday knew what he was doing....

I'll get that Bucket of Extra Crispy, Mashed/Gravey, Biscuits and Slaw to give to the AC gods. I'll even toss in a couple Hail Marys. The unit is only 9 years old, parts and labor still covered!

How did we survive without A/C???

Lol!!!! At least it was covered. I think the slaw and extra crispy will work. Have a piece for me.

Does anyone have a link to the improved a/c compressor? I think it's the 4 season. Does anyone know what makes it better? I'm going to be buying parts soon and want to try and prevent the a/c gods from slapping me around.

The fact is that the vast majority of vehicle owners do not post on forums at all, regardless of what kind of car it is. There is no way to accurately know how common the AC failure rate is on these cars but I would venture that it's more common than not. In addition to the AC my car has also had the leaky pinion seal and hood corrosion, both of which are common problems on this car. When the power seat fails I'll be 4 for 4.

No having it serviced will not delay failure but if it's not cooling as well as it did it may just need coolant and is not an indication of impending failure. You should have your AC serviced about every 18 to 24 months anyway.
