I was going to say that before but I wasn't sure about the 5.0. My 4.6 manifolds - and something that looks like a union box for brake lines (I think - its under cover right now), are pretty horrid.

You're over-reacting. The only time someone else is gonna see it is if they're under the car.

Either paint it yourself, or return the car for what amounts to a non-issue. Either way, you're being a bit of a drama queen.

Before making a 32,000 purchase, you might want to go through the car with a fine tooth comb before purchasing. Your not wrong for feeling this way because people are different! I can say this... If any car sits a bit on the lot, no matter who the manufacturer is, your going to find surface rust on the axle and brake rotors!

When I saw the rust after I took her home with 16 miles on her,...I cleaned, primed, and painted the axle and surrounding parts flat black with rust oleum. Pretty pretty! Driveshaft is a tad rusty but will swap it with an aluminum one eventually so I don't care. I agree they should be painted from factory though. All my imports have been painted underneath.

I just bought a 2003 Mach 1 from New Jersey / Pennsylvania area with 13,500 miles on it & one previous owner who obviously kept it in the garage most of its life , but now that its mine here in California , first thing I did after driving it was climb under it & pull the wheels to inspect.....because I am from Michigan & am hip to east coast rust.....luckily its not to bad ....nothing a few hours or days with a wire brush & some Rust paint wont take care of....the rear axel , motor mounts, exaust manifolds , wheel brake areas ......I think the factory should at least do the exaust manifolds & motor mounts !
