Borla, nooooo! (well, not that bad, really)

I had no idea that Borla S-types came in 13-14 specific models. I just received the ABs meant for the 11-12s, which have longer tips. I don't like that look. Has anyone successfully installed these onto a 13-14? I understand that you can loosen the exhaust at the mid-pipe to allow for more adjustment, but will this be enough to tuck this puppy in to a reasonable degree?

Another thing that bugs me is that the canisters for most exhaust systems are angled slightly downward at the tip end. It would look so much better with the tip being parallel or slightly angled upward from the ground.

what part number do you have?

i didnt know they made those either. on AM it just says 11-14

EDIT: I think you might be mistaken.. even according to borla's website they exhaust you mention is listed as 11-14. Where did you see it say 13-14?

EDIT2: my bad was looking at the wrong parts.. ignore this post.. lol

11-12 will use 11789: http://www.borla.com/products/mustan...rt__11789.html
13-14 will use 11837 (shorter canisters and tips): http://www.borla.com/products/mustan...rt__11837.html

I bought the 11789 off of eBay, which noted 11-13. Guess I can just return them.

I have the older mufflers, however, I have the California Special/Boss 302 Rear diffuser. Because of the diffuser the muffler tips don't stick out at all.

If it's something on your mod list, just move it up. :-)

If they advertised them to work with the 13 but were wrong per borla, returning them shouldn't be an issue. Even if they dispute it, eBay would have your back. Don't ghetto rig it to work, get the right ones.

Good point. Was that planned to get the longer tips bc of the diffuser mod or a happy accident?

The ends of the exhaust are rarely bent upward because doing so allows any condensation from the cooling of the exhaust (that you see running out of the pipes at certain temps) collect in the pipe itself. It will rust the pipe from the inside and ruin the exhaust.

Yes, the borlas are different for the 11-12 GTs and the 13-14 GTs. I helped a buddy of mine install his on his 13 (because of how mine sounded and looked...but I have a 12). His tips stuck out way too much. This was very early in the 13 model year, so I don't think borla made a different 13 exhaust yet.

Long story short, yes, don't jerry rig it, just get the right ones.

Ps would it be a true statement that if someone with a 13/14 bought a 13/14 borla exhaust first, then at some later point bought a GT CS bumper, would the exhaust then be tucked TOO far in????? Eeek

I bought 11-12 mufflers for my 13. Gt500 mufflers. When installing the mufflers and xpipe the welder had to cut some of the mid pipe and axel back to get a perfect flush fit. He charged 80 dollars for cut and weld.

I ended up refusing the shipment and UPS has it on it's way back. Will join the ranks within the global 13-14 back order list.

Everything coming from north of the Mason-Dixon line is back-ordered or is delayed. Went to the speed shop today and found out the parts I wanted were already ordered, but won't be in town for another few weeks because of shipping headaches. It's not a big deal to me as my mods aren't urgent, but they're having a real problem getting things in fast enough to get them installed on others' cars. I feel for them.

I have the 11-12 Borla S on my '13. I got them because they were on clearance. Personally, I think the exhaust looks aggressive sticking out. Looks like 60s muscle to me.

That would drive me nuts seeing those tips hanging that far out. Not my preference. I gotta have them almost flush or i'm keepin it stock

^agree. Same here with my '13. I think it sticks out just far enough. Looks pretty badass.

Really hoping someone will post a pic when they install the 13-14 11837. Would love to see how the shallower tips look.

I don't have a picture, but they are about 1" less for the 13-14 version.

I also have the 11-12 S-Types on my 13. I like the look.

the new Borla model specifically made for 2013-2014 came out just few months ago, also the 2011-2012 model works perfectly for our cars , in the end its just a esthetic look, it doesn't bother me and personally love how it looks. I wounder if Borla would exchange the mufflers if someone called them and explained that they purchased the 2011-2012 aka "2011-2013 before the new model came out" , and now they sell a new model "specifically" made for 2013+. Please post pictures when you have it on your car.
