I would guess GT500, the M6 is a fat beast, and puts out 50 less hp. 4400lbs vs 3900lbs....

Well, the Car&Driver lightning lap has both tested...the M6 was tested in 2006 though and did a 3:10 around VIR....the 2011 gt500 did a 3:04. Don't know if that satisfies you for an answer. It looks like the M3 outperforms the M6. An M6 would be cool though, they are more for the high class dude and the gt500 is cheaper.

i would say that pretty much answers my question!

i was wondering how a V10 in the front of the car would handle!

i was seeing if BMW could pull it off..but i guess..it can not!

The M6 is not 4,400lbs, that's the convertible. The coupe is 3,900lbs isn't it?

500Hp, 3,900lbs .... And 3 times the price. I wonder too.

Sorry you are incorrect..the M6 weighs in at 3900lbs. Also the M6 did 0-60 in 4.1 sec. and ran the 1/4 mile in 12.4 @121mph. Also, from a roll these cars are monsters. This thing would crush a Mustang GT.

Here is the spec sheet from Car and Driver..

http://www.caranddriver.com/var/ezfl...5b0e630824.pdf

Look at the 0-150mph time, it beat the GT500 by almost 4 seconds to this time and 4mph faster through the 1/4 mile. Im telling you from a roll these things are monsters. As you are shifting he is still in gear all the way up to 8300rpm.

Clearly, the m6 is a beast but it's going to take more than a little c&d bible thumping for me to reconsider. The 30k rustang vs 100k supercar argument is always cheese. With that said, these tuned 5.0's are f'n quick! You might be surprised. Throw me to the wolves @ m6boards if I'm wrong, lol...

Well once the GT500 hits 155, the M6 would walk all over it for sure - 'cause you know, that **** speed limiter!

I just grabbed the number off of Wikipedia, not that I care too much, it's twice as much, though I guess that's par for the course these days.

According to a quick Google search the BMW M6 is also factory limited to 155.

"Technically" the M6 is trackable... but it is VERY rare to see one at a track. It eats tires and brakes for breakfast, lunch AND dinner.

I dont know the circumstances for the show but the M6 here did go a bit faster than 155 - they very well may have disabled the speed limiter on the car.

I dont doubt the 155 speed limiter, it seems like german car makers do this alot.

Still though, the way the GT500 is geared (at least the 07-09 cars) its llimited to some place north of 180.

At those speeds aerodynamics start showing their head. The slipperier M6 does not need as much hp to keep accelerating as wind resistance builds. That is the only reason the M6 is faster to 150mph.

M6 is cool, but GT500 to me is more special and not to mention a ton cheaper.

Don't get me wrong guys..if I had a choice between a M6 and a 2011 GT500 I'm going with the GT500 as I find the M6 to be quite ugly. You can get a used M6 that is just 1 or 2 years old for about the same price as a new 2011 GT500 with PP. The back seats in the M6 is really no better than what they were on my 997.

Regarding speed limiters on BMWs, its only normally top gear that has the speed limiter. With a 6MT M3 the car will hit almost 170mph in 5th gear, but in 6th just 160. The M6 posted in the youtube video must have had software to remove the limiter.

Tuned M6s are deep in the 11s now as are some normally aspirated M3's that have just bolt ons. Here's my buddies Drew car running 11.89 @119 mph with just bolt ons. On the M3s removing the primary cats along with software is upwards of 30rwhp on these cars and corresponding torque.

Actually that was a C63 AMG, normally aspirated.
