The gotta have it green really looks different in person, the pictures don't do it justice. In the bright light it appears a little pail. From about 50 feet away it looks completely awesome and head turning. Up close it has a metallic effect.

Nice pics! The SG lovers will sure appreciate some of those pics. I was at the spring break shootout in Bradenton and they had a GHIG GT there and it looks much different in person. The color is hard to capture in photographs, kinda like grabber blue.

Guys, I don't want 2b a sour-graping 2012 owner, but that taillight / rear bumper / license plate area looks like someone's face with a strip of duct tape over his/her mouth.

I like the new taillights but who the heck signed off on that bumper looking like that?

I'm about to order GHIG on Monday and I'm going back and forth due to the high variance in the pictures. Is it very noticeably pale in the light in person, or is the pictures that is just blowing out? Thanks for the pictures either way.

I really like the look of the taillight and blackout panel. The cheap plastic where the license plate mounts just doesn't fit the rest of the car though. If it was the same material as the blackout panel it would look tons better..

It is noticeably pale in the light. With that said it is the weirdest color I've ever looked at, it looks different as you get closer and further away with a huge variation. From afar it looks more snake skin green, up close it looks very pale when it is in direct sunlight.

I loved it when I saw it in the commercial, after seeing it up close I have mixed feelings. With all that being said, it does draw your attention from a mile away and will definitely turn heads.

I found this 2013 online with leather Recaros, just wow!! Those seats look so amazing. And those guages. I'm glad I didn't go for a '12 now. I really love the 2013's, and especially this car.

I've be fortunate enough to check out GHIG green in person, it definitely is an interesting color. It is a little lighter in color than I expected, but it really nice looking up close. The best example I can give is the Blazing Yellow if you've seen that.

Not loving the green, hope it looks better in person. In the pictures it looks like lime sherbet.

Your gonna get noticed with that color! Not that it's bad...reminds me of the old days when mustangs used to come in all sorts of wild colors...

edit:

found this walk around showing the green

Hi Eric. LOL re your analogy. Like the backend/tail lights discussion we all had beginning with the 2010s, in time I think this is something most of us will become accustomed to in the larger context of what's an otherwise great car. I agree that the license plate area is unusual but I think I know why Ford did it.

In the category of be careful what you ask for, almost everyone hated the diaper and the acres of black plastic trim at the bottom of the 2010-2012 cars. I believe Ford used the black trim so that the car would not appear so tall. And, we pretty much have gotten used to it. Well, now with the 2013s, Ford has given us what we originally asked for and, for the most part, the sides look great without the black plastic trim. But the back does look rather tall to my eyes without the black trim (aka "diaper"). I'm guessing that Ford tried to use the license plate area to give us the illusion the bumper is smaller than it really is. In the case of the 2013 GT/CS (the model I ordered recently), Ford does paint the area of the rear bumper between the tail pipes and, to my eyes, it makes the back end look smaller, lighter, sleeker without adding a plastic "diaper" to the back.

If I could choose, I'd actually rather have the 2013's tail lights but the 2010-2012's rear bumper and diaper (but keep the sides body color ...check the 2013 GT/CS to see how they kept the sides body color but painted the back of the bumper area between the tail pipes black ...it's pretty cool, IMO).

One of the other reasons I chose sterling gray is to minimize the contrast of the black plastic license plate area with the surrounding bumper. I could've gone all black but then I'd lose the contrast between the tail lights (and the really cool black heat extractors on the hood!).

Eric, you always have great comments and perspective. Thanks.

Above: 2013 GT/CS rear bumper. Note area between tail paipes is painted black.

Above: 2013 GT Convertible. Note area between tail pipes is body color.

It does look like that production model GT/CS have a unique rear diffuser that is black plastic, not painted. In fact, on the pic I post below it looks very similar to the one on the SBY Boss in your pic, but can't quite tell on the white car as the area is too dark to see.

I don't think you can put too much faith in those early, pre-production pix either. That white car could be a GT with the pedestal spoiler and side scoop accessory pkg since it has the Brembo's on it that you can't get with the GT/CS...

Here's a clear shot of the rear end from the OP's flickr page;

I also don't see any hood 'ghost stripe' on the '13 GT/CS, just on the lower sides... The Build and Price shows no hood stripe either, and the Boss style diffuser.

Aesthetically you may be correct, but the primary driver was a wide license plate area for international sales I believe.
