Bassani exhaust how loud?
On a scale of 1-10 how loud is the axle back race system? Im joining it with an offroad x and from the videos ive seen I fear its not going to be loud enough for my liking.

The only drone i've experienced with them was between 1800-2000 rpm coasting in fifth gear which i never stay at anyways. They sound very refine and sexy, they have a very distinctive sound and stand out among the others. I wouldn't change them.

I cant stand how confused I am about this exhaust situation. Im really looking for something thats a 9/10 in loudness. From vids the bassani does seem like a solid 6. Good tone is important to me also. Not so worried about drone. Im really contemplating going with the magnaflow competition catback. They do sound very mean but without hearing each next to each other in real life I cant tell which I like more.

I got terrible Bassani drone at 1900ish RPM at ALL gears except 1.
Really love the Borla Type-S, but you can't compare the sound to the Bassanis cause they're completely different.
edit: 2010 get a Borla attack and **** everyone off and be done with it already :-/

Don't get me wrong it's loud. It's just not obnoxious. Please please don't get the magna flow comp cat back. You will regret it. Learn from mine and others loss. I've owned a lot of mustangs with just about every brand name exhaust. These bassanis sound really really good and believe me they will hear you coming.

Out of curiosity why do you dislike them so much? Ive read in the past that you said some fitment issues. However if its an issue clearing over the axle pipes thats a simple fix just welding in some new hangers. But as far as tone do you actually think they sound better?

It's not that simple. I'll try to explain.
Taking off from a light when you are trying to stay at a 3, they are about an 8.
Cruising on the freeway going 80mph at around 2200rpms and it's a 2. Maybe even a 1.
At wide open throttle it's a 9.
Casually rowing through the gears shifting around 5500 will take you from a 4 up to a 7. Just depends on how much load you are under.
Driving the car how it was meant will give you a beautiful 8.25 with a nice mix of thunderous muscle and refined exotics.
I love loud exhaust! Love it! Trust me when I say that. My 2 favorite exhaust setups on the 4.6 were FRPP Stingers and Pypes Off Road H Pipe or the Pypes Mid Muffler with O/R H. The latter of the two would wake the dead at WOT.
The drone is not bad at all. In fact, Joker, please take this in the spirit in which it was intended, doesn't seem to be able to drive around the drone. He's said he hasn't even hit 6th gear in his car yet, and that he had ear piercing drone with the Bassani Race Axleback. You can easily drive around the little drone that these have. Keep the rpms up. That's all. Stay out of the 1900-2100 range.
2010, get them and you will not regret it. If you are shooting for a 9.5, then just stay at WOT! Hahaha.
I guess I could sum it up as this setup is loud enough to make me pucker as I pass the cops and my neighbors all complain about the volume. Car alarms go off if I crawl passed them. Yeah it's loud.

Iv had Bassani on my last three mustangs. My 2002 GT, 2003 Cobra, and 2004 Mach 1. I currently have a set being shipped for my 2011 5.0. Best sounding exst in my opinion. Ppl always say how different it sounds but in a great way. It has an exotic sound that everyone mentions.

I literally LOL'ed at the .25 AHHA.
In your videos the tone sounds dead on but it doesnt sound all that loud in the mixed driving you did in the video. However I'm willing to take your word. I just wish I could hear both in real life. I appreciate your thorough response ALOT!

You can call me and hear it over the phone if you'd like, but that wouldn't be much better than the YouTube clips.
You cannot go wrong with this setup.
It's loud and has great tone to it. Stop the debate and place your order. I think Dallas Mustang has the best price on the axle back.

Not to butt in, but I will: I just put on the Flowmaster American Thunders - and I'd give 'em a 6.5-7.5 out of 10 just for loudness. The tone is phenomenol and I notice no drone. (I've got 3.73s so I'm turning a pretty decent RPM at highway speeds.) The price is right too $300-350.00 USD delivered. The fit and finish is excellent. This is my second set of flowmasters (first set was on my '05 GT).

Ahhhh another Bassani thread.
I'd give it an average of 7 or 8 and that's with just the axlebacks. Throw in an OR xpipe and you'll be up there (As S197GT has said). It really depends on driving conditions, your gearing, etc.
When I start it up at 5:30am, it's loud. Car alarms go off and standing behind the car is loud.
After a warm up, idle is a nice rumble and noticeable. Casual driving through the gears up to 6th gear is a 7.
Running out all the gears up to 6th is an easy 8.
Cruising in 6th on the highway at 80mph is a 4 or 5. But flooring it from that point gets you noticed.
I had no mufflers, OR xpipe, and shorty headers on my 05' GT. That was 10. I heard the Borla's and was not impressed (especially for how much more they are than Bassani - $$$) so I went with Bassani on this car. I'll be getting the OR xpipe soon, but honestly its just because I want it a little louder and to get rid of the cats. The Bassani's are unique but still retain that classic muscle car sound.

Lol. It's not a simple fix at all. It comes down to the angle at which magna flow usednto go over the axles. Believe me I had three kits one of which was chopped, extended, bent and it still hit. There are numerous others on here that can attest to that as well. And yes the bassanis sound much much better than the magna flows. Believe me, if I was less ethical I would be telling you the mags were awesome and I knew where u could get a set cheap lol.
