Autoport to Delivery

Just got an update from everyones favorite board member... Johnny B...

Awaiting Shipment Origin Received - It (Autoport Limited ) Ramp 5P, Flat Rock, MI May-24-2010, 02:58 ET May-22-2010

From what I can gather, all cars have been going out to Autoport (ramp 5p) and then coming back (presumably to fix whatever the hold was), and then shipping very soon after that point.

For those that have gotten the transaction log from Johnny B, what was your time delay between Autoport to Shipping, and Autoport to Delivery?

I don't know about that. Mine has gone offsite to Autoport & returned twice and still awaiting transport.

Man, just got an update from JonnyB as well, same as yours exactly. If my dealer didn't have one 5.0 already I'd swear this car was a myth.

I hear ya. What I don't understand is how people who have already gotten them aren't getting recalled.

I wonder if we'll ever know what the HOLD was about? My car is an auto with the only option being the CS package, so no brembo or navi can account for whatever they're doing.

I need to find out if Autoport is the rail lot a few miles north of AAI on King Rd. They've been filling that lot up lately and it's been used in the past for shipping and holding of different vehicles.

Yes, please.

Mine has been "awaiting shipment" since the 6th and has moved around AAI ramp 51, ramp 5p, and several "UAxn" locations. I wonder if those UAxn designations are rail car or container IDs????

My ETA has been unchanged at 5/14 for almost since the car was built. The paper on the wall with the squares and numbers on it shows that it's well past 5/14 though. . . I may have to mail a copy of that to the executives at Ford along with the alphabet and a calculator.

At least yours has moved around. I haven't gotten an update of any kind since the first. I'm worried once something finally does happen it's going to be juggled around the 51 - 5p for another month before I see it. For all I know they lost the **** car.

Mine was at ramp 5P and SCH for week of 4/26 until May 14th when it finally was on a train. Then finally on May 17th it was RE-SCH to 5/19 and arrived 5/21 after dealership closed for the day.

You need to be patient Jerry, especially since you ordered your car MUCH later than others.

Now that production has smoothed out, most of the bugs have been worked out, and I'm guessing there is a pretty decent backlog, NO ONE here should expect to see their car quicker than 10-12 weeks !! There have been exceptions to this, some cars have obviously had all the right options, had no bugs to be worked out, and no delivery delays etc. (David Young imediately comes to mind) ... but these really are the EXCEPTIONS not the rule !!

I've said this MANY times ... every car I've ever ordered from Ford took around 10 weeks ... and NEVER have I ordered right at the start of production of a new model. As I ordered my car 1 month after Ford started taking orders (around 11,000 pre-orders ahead of me), the 13 weeks it actually took sounds about right.

The problem lies in Ford's jumping the gun with "wishfull thinking" scheduled ETA's ... nothing wrong with planned expectations, just don't share these dates with the consumers until the whole process is up and running like it will be a month (or more in this case) after the MY production start.

As an example, mine was initially scheduled for week of 4/19 (1st thought that came to mind was no F'in way) but then got pushed back to 4/26 (9 weeks then 10 weeks) when the build was finally SCH for 4/15. If FORD would have just automatically fudged in an extra 3-4 weeks on everyone's ETA's for expected new model start-up delays we would all be comending them for either delivering early or on time.

Says the guy who already has HIS car.

I'm patient enough. My car has been built since 5/6. I ORDERED it on 4/3. My dealer took 10 days to place the order and for Ford to pull it. I don't mind waiting longer if I know they need to make it right. But they haven't even updated my ETA. When I ordered, I told the sales flunky that my goal was to get the car before Memorial Day. His response was, "Oh, sure... should be about 6 weeks." 6 weeks from 4/3 is ... um... last week or so. We're going on 8 weeks now.

Bottom line is if "my" car shows up on someone elses lot before MY car gets delivered, I'm buying it. And maybe it will have fewer options. Maybe I won't need the EP or the premium interior or the rear camera. Money lost for Ford.

I'm taking my ball and going home now, Doug.

Same here. I'd love to use that 0% financing that expires June 1st. Oh well.

I got this one yesterday
Awaiting Shipment Origin Received - Tp24 (Autoport Limited ) Ramp 5P, Flat Rock, MI May-22-2010, 22:22 ET May-08-2010

Prior update was Apr 25. So near 4 weeks with no movement. Alas, my loan app expires thursday, and my loan officer says I will need to reapply.. As least I won't have to pay the app fee. Rates have dropped a bit too since last month...

What bugs me is we pay $850 for "delivery and destination" and we can't seem to get these things shipped. I can pay $500-$700 to have ONE car shipped almost anywhere in the U.S. I pay $850 to Ford and they can't ship one in a timely fashion.

Here's my full history (as of 5/25/2010 @ 8:30 PM). Oh look, no change at all since 5/21 aka PARKED:

I just talked to my salesman ( who has been with the same dealership 20+ years ). I honestly believe he is more upset than me. Ford told him that he would have my car 5/5, so he had kind of presold my trade in. Now this person is upset and he said he is likely going to lose this sale. He is pissed!!! He has no idea why some dealers are getting for retail deliveries of mustangs that were built over 3 weeks after mine.

That's funny as I just received an email from my sales guy and he seemed all pissed as well. He says his hands are tied and that he wishes there was something he could do.

I'm patient and am not going to freak out about the wait as I waited a heck of a lot longer with my 05. However it would be interesting to really know the story behind a month or more of waiting after production.

It seems we have some similarities:
Ordered 3/1
Built 4/21
ETA 5/5
ETA 5/23
Ford's quality may be #1, but PR needs some work!
