Mustang Sales
Where I live there are very few Mustangs on any of the Ford Dealer lots, but there are dozens of new Camaros on the Chevy lots. If you're in the market for a new muscle car and have a choice of right now or 12 - 18 weeks, many would opt for a Camaro rather than wait.
I wanted a Lava Red GT coupe, but that color is not available, I wanted an Automatic, not one anywhere in Canada, I wanted a 3:55 differential, can't have it with an automatic, I wanted one, any color, NOW, again, no luck. I ended up ordering a Kona Blue automatic with GPS and a 3:15 diff. Now I won't see my new car till early winter, and will have to pay extra to get the 3:55 I want. Grrrrr.

Thanks for posting.
Don't remember the last time I saw a Mustang commercial.
That really cool Challenger commercial w/General George Washington a year or so ago got me thinking I need some modern muscle. The comparative reviews (expecially Motor Trend), the articles I read on the new 5.0, my test drives, the additional $ for an SRT8, all the curvy canyon and mountain driving I'm able to do and the fact I could get a Ford Family plan all pointed to a new GT.
So thrilled with this car, way above and beyond being simply satisfied. 11K miles in 15 weeks.
Another interesting note; (not sure how applicable this is nation wide) buddy went to our local small town dealer intending to order a V6 convertible. After being told it'd be several months due to their avail allotments, he pondered his decision another week or so. Turns out his wife preferred another car, Mazda or something, and he's since bought it.
Point is, I've the opinion Ford could considerably increase sales with a minimal amount of effort.
