How easy? Any tips?

 

Any welding involved?

 

It's straight forward.

Get a set of ratcheting wrenches. That would be my only tip.

No need to jack the car up either.

No welding.

 

I installed the Catback system and it only took about an hour and was very easy to do, so the axle back should be extremely easy

 

How high did you need to lift the car -- did you use a lift, or just ramps / jackstands?

 

I used a lift but it can be easily done on jack stands

 

I did my axel backs on a ramp. very easy. stock mufflers are very heavy so be careful. You will be re-using the stock clamps so you need to beak them off the mufflers. They are spot welded on so alittle muscle we be needed.

 

I had a guy do mine but wow was it easy - in hindsight I definitely would have done it myself.

You can definitely use jack stands (that's what he used). Like above said, they stocks are heavy so be careful when you remove from the hangers. And keep a can of WD40 handy - one of the mufflers was difficult to remove from the hanger and WD40 really helped. No welding, just clamps.

Hardest thing was just getting the tips lined up the way you want it. Some people are really **** and measure to the millimeter, and some are fine as long as it's centered. Even that isn't difficult, just time consuming if you want them perfect.

 

I just installed them on my brothers new v6. About 1:15 and I was done. Piece of cake. You don't need to remove the clamps off of the stock mufflers like the instructions tell you. You just need wd40 on the rubber hanger mounts. 15mm socket for the midpipe and 12mm for the muffler clamps. We just backed it up on ramps. Also didn't remove the panhard bar or loosen it.

 

Nice. How do they sound?

 

Pretty good. One note right at 3k that is a tiny bit different. It's pretty loud when you step on it and it sounds really nice at wide open throttle. At cruise, it just shuts up. Silent inside the car when cruising under 50 with automatic. A little boomy above 80 on highway, but only compared to stock. It actually sounds like it has 305 hp now.

I'm sure he will. My GT is still on order. Should be here in May. Then I get to do it again to my own car. Still undecided on which mufflers I want. Still leaning towards the GT500 mufflers.
