Anybody have this happen
It happens often at shows and cruises. Lots of people pose near my car, ask questions, and serve up compliments. I feel funny sometimes, because compared to a lot of the cars I often park near on cruise nights, my car is really nothing special. But my perspective is that of a car-guy. People who aren't stone cold car weenies have a different perspective. If they prefer how my car looks, I'm flattered.
What gets me are those few owners who bring their cars to shows, but aren't friendly when you ask questions. I've even seen a few chase kids away because they were too close...not touching the car, just too close. Why bother bringing your car then?
If a child is with his parents and I get the vibe that they respect the cars on display, I'll offer to let their kid sit behind my wheel for a photo op.

I'm with you on the unfriendly car owners at cruise-ins/shows. Car events are social events. If you don't want to talk to other car enthusiasts, stay home.
I had an older guy approach me about the car in a parking area near Mt. St. Helens. He was blown away by the Ruby Red convertible with the stone top and interior and asked if he could take photos. The color combo is awesome and Ruby Red in the sun always attracts attention.
I really dig hooking up with as many cars as possible for a road trip to a show and being one of the last cars in line. It's sorta like The Hell's Angels but with four wheels and no crystal meth.
One time I was out having a beer with a cocky friend of mine on a bar patio. We both parallel parked next to each other right up front. He has a 2010ish CTS-V that he thinks is the greatest and always talks about it. I remember we watched this one guy walking down the sidewalk, walked RIGHT PAST his car without a glance, then stopped dead in his tracks and looked at my 13 GT for almost 2 minutes straight. It was hilarious!
Happened to me once. I just stepped out of a grocery store and I usually park at the far end to avoid anyone parking by me. While walking back there was this mom with 2 kids who was taking pics of my car. As I approached she said Nice car and said if I didn't mind her clicking a few more for her husband. I said no prob and she clicked some more.

A few days after I got mine last May I was cruising on Rt 80 in the right lane when in the rear view mirror I spotted a new Camaro convertible hauling **** like a scalded cat. I figured he wanted to catch up to me and play silly games.
As soon as he got near me he slowed down, pulled along side, then he and the passenger both gave me the thumbs up and sped off. That was pretty cool.

It does happen to me occasionally. When i head to the beach sometimes tourists want a picture of their spouse next to my car.
If its not the car then its Tag lol

Lol, nice.
I was driving around testing out my new Borlas and I got stopped by a bus driver today. I was waiting at a light and a city bus pulls up next to me. Next thing I hear is some guy screaming, "Hey, that's a 5.0!" I look over to my left and the driver got the bus doors open and was trying to talk to me. He asked if it was a 6spd and what I have done to the car. We were talking for a few seconds before people behind us were honking because the light turned green, and he was like "Go!, I wanna hear how it sounds." I redlined first, but couldn't go faster because of other cars on the street.
