hearing lots of good things about the new powertrain, couldnt find any performance numbers yet...any guesses if that v6 will make it into the high 13's? or if the new GT will be in the high 12s? seems both might be right there...

v6 will be 13.9 @ 99 with the 3.31s
gt will be 12.8 @ 112 with the 3.73s

assuming they put half way decent tires on there, and not 235s, going to be hard to get 12s on 235s

Those were the exact times I was going to post when I read the thread title, before I saw your post. 13.9 sec for the V6 and 12.8 sec for the V8 in the 1/4.

These seems achievable times, but let's just wait and aee what will be the exact weight of the GT.

gt will be 12.7 @ 112 with the 3.73s

So, at the end, what would be the reason to buy a Shelby? GT is just as fast for $20,000 less.

'11 V6's are gonna be low 14's @ 98. The optional 3.31 gears may get a few guys into the very high 13.9's, but most will still be very low 14's and under 100 mph through the traps.

'11 GT's are gonna need traction, but will all be 12 second cars with a decent driver behind the wheel. With drag radials, I predict high 12's @ 108 for the automatics and mid 12's @ 110 mph for the manuals (especially those with 3.73 gears).

Take a swim in the aftermarket pool, and any of the '11's will be mighty quick!

The 2010 GT500 in MM&FF's Evan Smith's hands went 11.90's on factory tires and 11.60's on drag radials - both at over 120 mph through the 1/4 mile. The '11 GT is not even close to this (even though mid 12's will be quite impressive from the "base" V8 Mustang).

I'd guess 13.9 at 101 for a manual V6 with 3.31s and high 12s at 110 for the GT. The Hyundai Genesis is running 14 flat at 100 and the Camaro is running low 14s at 98/99. The Mustang V6 should beat both. The GT should beat a Camaro SS and it will run 13 flat at 109 or so. The only question I have with the GT is will it hook up?

I'm sure with sticky compound we'll be able to see high 12's easily at around 111 MPH.

I'd say high 13's/low 14's will be a reasonable number. Not sure if traction-lok will be on the v6 though.

I think the best way to guess is simply put it a 10th or so faster than the Camaro in both base and V8 trim. Think about it the new base model has 1 more HP and 1 more MPG... Ford set out to have it equal or slightly better the Camaro. I think the SS and GT will be closer than people think because the SS has a torque advantage. So anyways this is my prediction.

V6 will do 13.9

GT will do 12.9

I also have a feeling that Ford is going to have to do something big with the GT500 this year to justify the $20,000 premium over the GT. I'm thinking the aluminum block and maybe even an IRS....

Can't wait to see the Chevy boys trying to make excuses for the 5.0 showing up.... all the grief us Mustang guys have heard from the GM fan boys is about to stop! I guess they can brag about the Corvette like they did from 03-08 lol!

this

I can see as low as 12.3's stock with a manual and some hard launches. Low 1.6's
All drag racers know it depends on the location, track, and weather. Unless perfect conditions, I can't see the V6 doing 13.9's out the box. Most people will average mid low 14's. On drags, mid-high 13's.

Anyone know when the GT500 powertrain info will be released?

from what I gathered it will be the next auto show.

LA for the V6

Detroit for the GT

I'm guessing NYC for the GT500?

If a Genesis is already running 14.0 why wouldn't a Mustang V6 beat that? The Stang should weigh the same or less, has a higher redline, and the Msutang should have the strong motor of the two.
