Exploiting the fact that your sister was raped, for internet fame. Ahhhh you gotta love this world.

Never tried em but i looooove my 3.73's

Somebody explain the backstory behind that rape song? was there actual legit news video and then put on autotune with clips added to it?
I see that the double rainbow guy was autotuned....geez with the internet there is new internet 5 minute sensations so often you forget them after a week

I have 3.31's.... and won't change because it's the best gear for autocrossing, which is what I do with my car for fun--and I daily drive it. Showed up 6/19, and I've got 2500+ miles on it.
Setting aside the fact on my race tires, 2nd gear is way too short with 3.73's and iffy at best with 3.55's, I really like the gearing overall with the 3.31's. Great cruising, the engine has good power in lower gears. I don't regret it.

Sam has it right. If you are just street driving, 3.73 may be fun but for the track it's a different story. I've found that at Cayuga and Mosport, I'm shifting the 2011 (3.55) more often than on the '06 (also 3.55). And it's the bad kind where you shift up and a couple of seconds later have to shift down again. Or sit just off the rev-limiter. Longer legs would be better. However, since the car is primarly a DD, I think 3.55 is a reasonable compromise. Nobody has too feel cheated if they don't have 3.73s. I think we all can justify our own choice of gearing.
For those who cruise in 5th, why in the world would you not be in 6th gear when highway driving? You can just shift down a gear if you need to.
Have fun guys and don't get paranoid about what your car has or hasn't got. Just go drive.
Cheers.
The wife and I test drove one with 3.55's (kona) and 3.31's (black). I liked the 3.55's better (as did she) and for some reason the wife could drive it better without any lurching, she said the 3.55 car felt smoother. It also felt a bit stronger when you nailed it off idle. Didn't really pay attention to when it shifted and what speeds. As far as sixth is concerned its an OD you don't use it for passing. I wanna pass I downshift.

I hate them. I cant wait to get them out. I am waiting for the ford power package so my dealer can swap them out.
6th gear is absolutely useless at any speed less than 80 mph. A Yugo has more passing power.
And since most of my time is between 60 and 70 I find myself always in 5th. So MY gas mileage is around 18 mph. I should see much better fuel mileage with 3.73 or 4.10's
Just because 6th gear should become useful.

My 3.31's suck the big one. I recently drove an 11' w/3.73's and I can tell you it is a big difference. 1st through 4th are all faster than my car is. DON'T BUY 3.31's!!
I'm very satisfied with my 3.31 axle. Yes, if I'm on the highway in 6th gear at less than 1500 rpm or so, a downshift is needed to really accelerate. So what? I should give up a mile or two per gallon because I don't want to downshift on occasion? I DO want to downshift. That's why I got a manual transmission.

With the steeper gears in the transmission with the 6-speed, I still think 3.55s are the best overall gear, especially after you throw the usual tune/plastic tube+big air filter/headers on it. A little bit above the stock 3.31s, which with stock tires is probably fine. If you're running drag radials at the track, I'm sure you'd be able to take advantage of the extra torque multiplication of the 3.73s, but on street tires, less gear might be an advantage.
I know they are completely different cars, engines, transmissions, etc., but when I had 3.73s in my old 5.0L GT, I always wished I had gone with 3.55s. Better to have a little less gear than a little too much on a streetcar.
Just my own uninformed opinion.
