Isn't 9.5" a little wide for a winter set up?

I thought you usually want a narrower tire, not wider?

I wasn't too concerned about traction in snow since during a normal winter there is snow on the ground maybe three or four times a season (at least when I am driving). The main issue is the colder temperatures. Still, I drove it in snow and slush and had no issues.

That's my issue. I need some wheels and tires for winter, but I'm limited on width with the Brembos. Looks like that is the way to go. Unless someone wants to sell me their BBP wheels and tires cheap.

Are you looking for the actual 2010 SVT GT500 wheel, or the 2012 Boss wheel?

The reason I ask is because they are almost identical designs, but the GT500 wheel is 18x 9.5" all around, where the 2012 Boss wheel is 19x9" Front, and 19x10" rear.

The plus to the Boss wheel is that you can run the 19x9" on all four corners if you don't want the staggered setup, for a slightly narrower tire/wheel.

If you want to save a little money, look at these similar designed wheels from American Muscle, they come in 9" and 10" width in 18" diameters, or 8.5" and 10" width in 19" diameters. They have lots of customer images as well.

Here is the Customer Images LINK for the 18x9" wheels

Here is the Customer Images LINK for the 19x8.5" wheels.

2010 GT500 wheels and BOSS wheels are not the same in any respect. The LS wheels look kind of close but...

there were two versions of the same design of the GT500 wheels (the ones shown in the OP's pic). 18's came on the 'vert while 19's came on the coupe. Besides Eli's post everyone here has posted pics with the 18's (R3tro's pics was 19's as well though)

I remember there being a thread about how the Boss LS wheels were kinda hefty too, around 30-32lbs? The only thing remotely similar would be the visual design (dual 5-spoke).

Curse those 19" forged GT500s for looking so darn hot and being equally pricey! I keep thinking about going with the cheaper cast 18"s, but the 19"s just look so much better proportioned against the tires and how they fit the wheel wells.

Please pardon my ignorance, but how does one tell which of the above photos show the forged 19's versus the cast 18's?

Ya narrower tire would have been better, but limited to wheel choices with the Brembos.
I went with exact same width as stock tires (255), but since these are 18" my sidewall height is a bit higher (45 profile vs 40 profile) which is better for winter.

Same here. There was zero days of snow this past winter for me.
I found it ironic that two Canadians, in cities 2000km apart, mention there isn't snow on the ground barely at all in winter.
We're ruining the American's preconceived notions of Canada!! What I meant to say is, there isn't too much snow in front of my igloo!

Agreed on all accounts! They're just beautiful IMO

I can tell by taller tires on the 18's. Plus it could just be my mind, but to me it looks like they have a slightly different finish too

This. The 19"s being bigger usually run a shorter profile tire compared the 18"s. Not much admittedly, but shorter. I think the stock tire size on the 19"s are 285/35-19 for the rear, while the 18"s have a 285/40-18.

Romendo's red 5.0 looks like the cast 18"s with Blizzaks:

I think SD6's SG 'vert shown has the 18"s also:

These are the 19"s:

The difference visually is definitely subtle, and that's hard to argue otherwise. I guess it comes down to whether or not you personally think the 19"s are worth the leap in price ($600 for a set vs $1600+).

FordRacingParts.com list the weights of the 2011 GT500 and 2012 Boss wheels.

2012 Boss 19x9" (35.2 lbs) wheel is 2.2 lbs heavier than the 2011 GT500 19x9" (33 lbs) wheel
2012 Boss 19x10" (37 lbs) wheel is 1.75 lbs heavier than the 2011 GT500 19x10" (35.25 lbs) wheel

That's not a huge difference, as the tire you choose could differ in weight greater than the wheels. Here's a quick comparison of three tires:

Tire Size 255/40R19 & 285/35R19

Goodyear Eagle F1's = 26 lbs and 29 lbs
Continential Extreme Contact DW's = 25 lbs and 27 lbs
Bridgestone Potenza S-04 Pole Positions = 30 lbs and 32 lbs

Tire weight will have more effect than wheel weight since the higher mass is around the circumference of the wheel itself.
