Another reveal in Detroit?
Another reveal in Detroit?
Just something to add to the continuing rumors about what exactly Ford will be offering in 2010 ...

Basically speculation that Ford may have a surprise in store for the Detroit show.

Probably GT500
Knowing its coming out in 2010 as well....
And they'd be in production probably before the New York/Chicago shows....
Probably won't see the 5.0 till LA or so next year.
There is NO reason for them to reveal it right now, and jeapordize 2010 sales.

Agree. GT500 is almost certainly the next variant for sale, so it makes sense to show it at Detroit. Anything else would likely reduce market interest in the whole '10 Mustang lineup. Wouldn't be a good move from a marketing perspective...
I'm not trying to say that there will be a 5.0, just giving those that are holding out hope a little something to grab onto.
Also it keeps some of the excitement for the 2010 going untill Detroit, something new to look foreward to and speculate on rather than the relentless dribble from those that dislike the car for whatever reason.

My money's still on the Shelby reveal.
But you have to wonder if there's more to the fact that Sunset Gold is a special, limited edition 2010-only color. Now obviously, I know it's not as "must-have" as an all-new SE or a 400 hp 5.0, and most in-the-know Mustang folks know better, but maybe they have a reason to give potential 2010 buyers a shiny metallic object to distract them from the 2011 goings-on.
Not the most in-depth of conspiracy theories, but hey... it's a start.

How's this for started a completely unfounded rumor:
2010 Hunter Green Bullitt with 5.0 and 6-speed.
Or Grabber Blue Mach 1 with the same.
Not a snowball's chance of either, I know, but it would certainly get a lot of people salivating...

Figuring they haven't even started MAKING the engine yet...
no chance
Patience..its coming.
But the good news is the mustang to be revealed will probably have an engine in excess of 5L and will be supercharged!!!

My vote also is on an updated GT500, of which there have already been spy photos posted. Based on the development timeline for the 2010, this makes the most sense. Ford has to balance an updated body style in coupe and convertible form in at least 2 model levels - V6, GT, and GT500. In addition, there are 3 potentially different engines (4.0L, 4.6L, supercharged 5.4) already out there, so I would put my money on this and no more for 2010.
probably the shelby...but i would like to be suprized with something new.
It's either Shelby or the first EcoBoost Mustang (TT V6?). The MKS is due to get it's TT V6 this spring/summer, it's not unreasonable that Mustang could get the same engine at the same time.
This is just icing on the cake for me then. I was already planning on making the 3 hour drive north for the NAIAS this year (I average going about every other year), and was planning on going just to see the regular 2010 Mustangs in the flesh. I can't wait......
Shelby seems likely, but does it (as we know it) really warrant being called the next "chapter" in the Mustang "story"? I was thinking of something more evolutionary. Something along the lines of an eco-boost, twin-turbo V6. Maybe that's the rumored GT-350?

... Fields says that Ford "will reveal yet another chapter in the Mustang story" at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show...
I assume another chapter would mean an addition of one not a continuation of an existing one. I'll go against the majority and say it will be the BOSS 302.

I'm thinking maybe an R model? Think about it we have had a Cobra R for three generations (93' 95' 00') I'm thinking it's long overdue for the next one. Plus Ford can still say they have the best handling production pony car. I say put the first of the 5.0s in a limited production model with a 6 speed and IRS. Call it the SVT Mustang Cobra R
Just some different speculation, I'd agree with most that it is probably just the next gen GT500...
