Since I turned 48, I got a V8 and a V6.
So you ain't too old.

3rd Mustang. Last one a 85 GT. Great car and it is currently being rebuilt.

However....

Black GT. Fantastic!! Best car I have ever owned. Looks great and goes like heck!!

Plan to store her in the winter (like my 85) and take to my grave.

 

I am also 48 &, after owning about 30 cars since I was 16, just got my 1st-ever Mustang! Don't worry about other people - judge the car on its merits and whether you like it and can afford it.

My wife told me something funny (I think) tonight. She said she's lost track of the number of well-meaning "well at least he's not running around with another woman" comments she's received about me since I bought this car!

If I was Tony Stewart or Mark Martin would anyone bat an eye about me buying such a car? No - and it's because those guys are in the car biz and are "car guys". Just b/c I don't happen to be fortunate enough to have a career in cars doesn't mean I am not a "car guy". Mid-life crisis my rear-end.

I'm 24, and waiting for my first mustang to arrive . Well 2nd if you count the 1972 mach 1 that my father had. I still haven't forgiven him for selling that car, and that was 10 years ago lol.

 

I'm *muffled voice* and I've been a Mustang type of guy all my life. I've had a 78 Mustang II, a 86 SVO, a 66 Sprint, and currently Awesome. I've had TBirds and Marks too. Ford Coupes... gotta love 'em.

That being said, I'm not the age in my head that my body is. If you think you're too old for Mustang, then you are. Kinda like that adage about music:

If it's too loud, you're too old.

/crank it up. Whatever it is, make my ears bleed.

 

I'm 22, just traded in my 06 V6 that I also bought new for my 5.0.

 

Buy the stang, it's classic, and you are on top of the world when driving it!!!

 

34 here and actually, the mean age for Mustang owners is 40-50.

 

Hey, I'm just a year or so older than you . . . which means we both remember the original pony car wars but we were just a little too young to take advantage of it back then . . . so this is the perfect time to buy one, the new ones are even better than they were "back in the day"

and maybe you remember Frank Zappa too . . .

I'm 39, so my first memory of Mustangs is the Mustang IIs that you saw everywhere in the late 70s.

In the mid-1980s, around the time I got my driver's license, I fell in love with the Fox Mustangs, but never bought one. I didn't particularly like the next generation 1994-2004 models, but got interested again with the 2005 re-design. At that time however, my kids were pretty young and I kind of lost touch with my inner "car guy" for a few years.

Now my boys are 10 and 7 and I fell in love with the 2011 Mustang, so I ordered one. Like others here, I think my biggest mistake is waiting so long to do it.

 

I'm 53 and my wife is 43. I learned to drive in my Dad's '65 fastback. I bought a new '78 Mustang II that was nothing more than a Pinto.

My wife and I are waiting for our 2011 V6 to arrive next month. It will be her daily driver.

With the money we saved buying a V6 over a GT we are looking to buy a 94-98 GT. I would rather go ahead and get the toys now, rather than wait until I retire, even if I have to work a couple more years to pay for them all.

My grandfather was still working his farm into his 90's. My Dad and Mom are both 80 and they enjoy camping and just bought a new boat last year. They had a jet ski up until a couple years ago.

I think it keeps you young being active and involved in activities you enjoy.

Test drove a 2011 GT last weekend and was really impressed with the performance and handling. I'm waiting for a test drive of V6 with Performance Package before making a final decision. One concern is gas mileage, I have a Prius and get ~45 mpg but its not much fun to drive.

 

If you decide to go with the V6...I just got rid of a 2000 Elantra with a little 4 banger. I'm getting virtually the same gas mileage with my new V6 Mustang. Spending the same each week in gas.

 

I also have a Prius and am getting 45 MPG. I'm keeping the Prius and driving it half the time. I figure between the GT and the Prius, I'll be averaging well over 30 MPG overall!

 

Was 56 in July.. Got my 09 Bullitt in July of 09....Will be getting a BOSS 302 to join the Bullitt as soon as they Build them..

 

Im in that last column, 61 and this is my 9th Stang!!
