2014 remote start

Has anyone had any luck with getting the dealer (or even doing it yourself) to change the settings on the remote start?

I ordered my 5.0 and had it as an option, assuming it would be like all other remote starts I have seen, but have thus far been very disappointed. As a feature (safety wise I'm guessing, though no one could drive it off without the key in ignition any way sooooo...???) of MyKey, the car shuts off when the doors are opened and then you have to turn on the car AGAIN.

Now I don't plan on using remote start every day, but as I live in Las Vegas I would love to in the summer to cool my black beast down, yet I'm more then a little peeved that the car will be turned on twice each time I go to use it.... let's just wear everything out twice as fast right?

I have read stories, I thought on here, of people getting the settings changed, to where the car stays on when the doors open and just turns off if the brake pedal is pressed before the key is in the ignition in the on position. I took my car to the dealer this past week and they kept it all day, promising to switch it over, only to call me right before closing saying that it is impossible.

I know the dealers "don't like to" or "aren't supposed to" but I have heard of getting it done, and at dealers. They told me that cars equipped with MyKey have that setting and it cannot be disabled, I even told them to just disable MyKey, as I'm the only driver and will never use it.

So I would like to get others thoughts and results that have had this issue, because right now I'm not using the remote start and it seems like a waste of money, I know it doesn't seem like a huge deal to some but it seems like a really stupid form of "safety" to me.

It has to be started twice with remote start because you have to unlock the steering column.

It won't be that way on the '15 because it is a no key car, just the fob in your pocket and a push button on the dash.

It can be reprogrammed to ignore that MyKey 'feature.' My dealer's electronics accessory guy did it for me. If you do a web search you can even find the instructions to do it yourself. I found them back before I had my '13 reprogrammed, but have since lost the link. Good luck!

Shiaz, have you tried a new remote battery. I had a problem with the one in my F-150 a couple weeks after I brought it home. I would beep, or try to start then stop, or just do nothing. Service writer said try a new battery, and that worked. Just a thought.

I have found that while pretty handy to have, these things seem to have a mind of their own. On a good day I can start the truck from the next county over, and on a bad day I can't start the thing standing beside it. I'm not the only one, as many on the F-150 forum has the same type experience.
