2014 Mustang GT 6-speed Manual/3.73 Observed MPG
Taking a Road trip next week, approximately 1224 miles 90% Hwy/rest city. For planning purposes, what are the members with a 2014 Mustang GT 6-speed manual/3.73 rear gears/ 19" tires observing in the MPG department at 70 MPH?
I have attempted to do a small data study of this, but the best I could do on the Highway was 22.7 MPG at 65 MPH running 87 octane.
Please use real experience data...I hate to be overly optimistic and running short of fuel in the middle of nowhere Indiana. Thank you!

I took a 5000 mile round trip to washington state from kentucky. I have a 2014 gt with 3.55 gears and 18" tires and I got from 23 to 26.7 running anywhere from 80-100 depending on state and interstate. Where u going to and from where I always kept filling up around the 300 -340 mile range to be safe

The best that I have ever got in my GT with 3:55s is 24ish. Average is around 17-19 in both heavy traffic and cruising with the way that I drive. (Shift at over 3k a lot of the time and stay in 4-5 gear often)
To the OP- How many miles are on your car? It takes around 1000-2000 miles to get the normal projected MPG, maybe more. Especially the Shelby. I know that people on here are getting decent numbers with the Shelby.

My trip is to North Webster, Indiana, and I start from Lansing, Kansas. Most of it is highway @70 mph. I calculated my safe range is 335 miles, but I was seeking to extend my legs to 375 miles, if possible. So far, the feedback is telling me I have projected correctly. I do appreciate your reply.

Yep, use it all the time to find my fill points.

I have as on today, 395.6 miles. I know the mileage will increase some as the rings properly seat and the engine breaks in more. I have achieved 22.7 MPH on short Highway runs and average 15 MPG around town.
Unrelated: I could save time if I actually had some tips on how the multi-quote feature worked. I tried...I really did...but it is beyond my ken.

Thank you so very much for your information! I will average my data with yours and use that as the MPG and figure my maximum safe range by computing it for 14.75 gallons. That will give me 20 miles or so to find fuel.

I log every tank (yep, OCD- but my little book with every fill-up, oil change, etc. makes for something nice to pass to the new owner when I sell/trade-in). I have the 5.0 with the MT-82 and 3.73, use 93 octane (really the only gas that should be run in these engines), and these are my numbers:
17-19mpg in 50-50% city/hwy
22.6 in 90-100% hwy
I have found the fuel tracker / tripometer to be absolutely spot on. When the 4.2" LCD indicates you have 50 miles left, you indeed have about 55 miles left (and the fuel consumed on the trip calculator is accurate to the 0.1 gallon on my Mustang).
Have a great trip!

My data indicates 22.7 MPG in 90% Highway and 18.3 MPG combined. I used data from another member and split the difference to produce what I believe are valid ranges under Highway, City, and combined. Your data is consistent with my findings and I thank you for your input.
I cannot always find the 93 Octane fuel, so I was leaning towards 91 Octane. Thank you for your well wishes on my trip!

Seriously? I drive mine plenty hard, have had it on road courses multiple times and have a blast...and averaged 22.8 overall. Not the kind of thing I'd expect a sales guy to post.

My 2014 GT TP came with 3.73
When I'm on a road trip, I average 22-25mpg. If I stick to 65 I'm closer to 25, otherwise it's been in the 22-23 range.
City commute I've been averaging 16.5.
