2014 GT Stock Mufflers: Market Value?

Hey Guys, two weeks ago I took delivery of a 2014 GT (AT & Brembo). My previous car was a 2008 GT (AT, SCT Bama) so the 5.0 is a significant upgrade from the 4.6. Need I say, I am thrilled with the new car.

My first mod is done: GT500 axlebacks. Improved rumble when accelerating and same sound level at stock at cruising speeds. Excellent for me. Very quiet in the cabin at 70-80 mph.

Now, I could keep the stock mufflers in the garage for the next decade (been there, done that), then recycle them (throw them away). You guys know what I'm talking about!

Or, is there enough market value to try to sell them? Geez, there must be a boatload of stock GT mufflers out there in Mustangland. And, of course the shipping on heavy packages is costly too.

What do you guys think? Recycle or sell?

As you can see, my problems in life are minor. ;+)

Happy 2014!

Dave

No value whatsoever except to yourself.

Keep to put on when selling/parting your car. You could sell your GT500 muffs individually but not your stockers. I still have mine in basement.

Agree with above. Mine are in a box and probably won't move for years

Thanks to all for the advice.

The prospect of storing the stock muffs is just too daunting for me.

(Note: I'm 70 years old. Storing heavy bulky things has lost it's appeal)

I could donate the mufflers to the local auto parts graveyard.

I wonder what they're worth in scrap (stainless)?

Anybody want the stock mufflers for a 2014 Ninja 1000? Clearance sale!

Thanks again,
Dave

I've seen stock mufflers advertised for as much as $150 but those guys are just dreaming, seen some sell for $50-$100 to V6 guys looking for a cheap upgrade.

If you're looking to give them away or sell them cheap then craigslist or a free ad on here in the classifieds might find a useful home for them.

I started a thread on the V6 board, offering to give the stock GT mufflers to anyone within driving distance that wants to pick them up. I live in the Bradenton-Sarasota Florida area. Pick up only.

Considered checking with local ford auto body shops to see of they have any interest? People will wreck their cars and shops will need OEM mufflers...

Haha, .........I can see that happening.

I really don't want to store them.

Example: I am currently selling a 2003 Suzuki SV1000 sport bike I bought new. I have had the stock mufflers stored in my garage for over 10 years now.

I'll probably keep the 2014 GT forever, so I'm not keen on storing the OEM mufflers.

Best wishes,
Dave

I have the stockers from my 07 GT and the 11 GT and I'm probably going to sell them as scrap.

Perhaps we are starting a trend here.

Ditching all the old mufflers in storage would make a lot of wives happy.

Free up some storage space.

What's a stainless steel muffler worth by the pound?

I'm way too **** retentive for that. Mine will be stored with all my other OEM parts until the car is sold or I die, lol.

Boat anchors. You can't give them away. I crack up seeing ads for $100 for stock GT mufflers.

IDEA!

Put them in a time capsule and bury them in your back yard with an historical note.

Dave

PS: Anyone need a like-new stock seat for a 2003 Suzuki SV1000?

Maybe I should start collecting all these OEM GT mufflers and become a vendor for Ford

Do GT take offs do anything for a V6 other than just look better? Any sound or performace gains? GT rims certainly made my V6 look better.
