2013 vs 2014 Mustang GT

Hi Everyone,

I went to the dealer the other day to get info on the 2015 mustang, the Sales man ended up doing some numbers for me to see if I qualify for the 2014 first. Although I do qualify, it's a hassle and payments are too high. So I got an idea of trying to look elsewhere for the 2013 model.

Now i know the 2013 and 2014 don't really have any changes in the specs, same Horsepower and Torque. My question is:

Are there any differences in the Exterior/Interior? Does the 2013 & 2014 look different in any way or are they exactly the same?

If any of you have any pictures for reference I'd highly appreciate it!

Thank you!

I'm very curious of the changes from the 13 to 14 as well.

Edit. If any

If I remember correctly, I noticed a difference in the stitching on the leather seats.
Not something significant at all.

Yep, instrument cluster is different on the 14s, and IIRC, the 13s used the LEDs as DRLs, but the 14s don't - they're just used as accent lighting with the headlights on.

I have to disagree with this. I have a 2014 that was built September 2013. The LED's are on all the time.

I thought I remember that as a late year change, when they also dropped Grabber Blue as a color....

You might want to check out this brand new, 2012 leftover...

There are pros and cons of buying a brand new, but almost 3 model year old vehicle. It might be a way to get into a GT 'vert though.

Good luck

Tom

If the payments on a new '14 are too high then buying a new '13 isn't going to make that much difference in the payment.

Sounds to me like you need to wait and save your money up until you can put enough down to get the payment where you need it.

The other thing is that you NEVER, NEVER, EVER buy a new car by talking about the payment you can afford with the dealer. You negotiate the price as if you are paying CASH, then when the best deal is made, you then negotiate the financing.

Otherwise, the dealer will get you for every cent they can.

some exterior differences between the 2013 and 2014 is the paint for example

2013 - performance white
2014 - oxford white.

and I believe there was a new red as well?

to some, it may matter, who knows.

Hmm maybe it was a mid year change, as mentioned above. I would like to hope mine are DRLs, but if not I'm sure it's easy to make them stay on.

^^^ This!! Listen to the wise man ! And did you know about Xplan pricing?
With that know how you can calculate in your own home what you can afford. When you then go to the dealer, you can use Xplan price as a start.

Same here, our 2014 GT was built in November 2013 and the LEDs are on all the time.

I totally agree, save your money to where you have a larger down payment and never shop for a car based on monthly payment.

Also, it would be hard for me to believe you could get anything older than a 2014 for much less, as you see the Ford incentives will probably only apply to 2014 models so there is less money taken off the MSRP or invoice price of held-over 2013s. With Ford offering dealers extra rebates to move their cars you may actually be able to find 2014's for less than a 2013 that doesn't have any manufacturer rebates.

One of the local dealers here has a bunch of new 2013 GT coups (not the Premiums) with manual transmissions for about 26-28 thousand.
A friend of mine just bought a white 2013 GT convertible with an automatic from this dealer for $32,500.00 out the door with all the warranties. So you can get a deal on a 2013.

That is weird, my 14 GT was built in August 2013 and the LED's only come on when it is getting dark outside (corresponds with the dash lighting dimming).

You can get new base '14 GT's here cheaper than that.

You must be referring to page 1, right hand column, fifth bullet point from the bottom in the OP of this thread?

https://themustangsource.com/f785/no...-order-526099/

I saw that too and was worried my March '14 build would not have the LEDs, but they came through like all the others.

Are you sure? I originally thought that the '14 LEDs were activated with the parking light switch and NOT DRLs, but it turns out they are indeed DRLs - they just don't turn on until the car is in gear IIRC. So when the light switch is off and the car is in park (for an auto anyway), the LED DRLs are NOT on. If the car is in park and you turn on the parking lights, they come on. If the car is in park and the light switch is off, then you put the car in gear, they come on.

Though I believe when in gear they are a bit dimmer than if they are on via the parking light switch when the car is parked.

My car was built March of this year and they seem to be the same as the '13 models, completely irrelevant to the bullet point referenced above in that other thread, so not sure what that order guide change was all about.

My car was build July 2013 and my DRL's are the 2 LED or CCFL (whichever they are) bars along side each headlight.
