2013 stock performance

I just turned over 2,000kms....I noticed that driving in start and stop driving..l need to get the revs up to 3,000 rpm and over to feel the power of the car kick in. To be honest, doesn't feel like a 420hp car on the line. Is it me ?

Is yours an 6AT? I agree, it feels much different than my 2011 6MT did. It could also do with the learning transmission where it gets to know your driving habits and changes on the fly. If you're ALWAYS aggressive, it'll shift firmer, etc. If you drive it for economy, it'll make it shift smoother and I believe even change the shift points some.

Yes, it's a gt auto....I haven't really pushed the car, going through it now that I'm at 2,000 Kms. I have just recently brought it up to 6,000 rpm....I have not redlined it yet. Seems to run well once it it hits over 3,000.

1.) The auto learns your driving habits, which sounds like it has been pretty tame.

2.) It's recommended that you redline the car once a day.

Any reason why you're holding back? I took mine to redline the night I picked it up.

I thought I read in the owners manual no redline for the first 1,000 miles.

I have been active in the passing gear and 3,000 to 4,000 rpm revs...a long with the select shift as well.

Just past 500 miles on mine and agree the low end seems to be lacking. Had an auto Vette as my DD before this and it had so much low end it was crazy so this is a little disappointing but it does haul nicely once it gets going.

Being the owner of a 4.6 3v GT, and having driven a 5.0 coyote Mustang we have on the lot at work, I can definitely say that when it comes to the seat of your pants feeling, it feels like the 5.0 is a high revver, and doesn't make much power lower in the RPMS. I feel like my car pulls harder down low than the coyote does. Once you do get into the 4000+ rpm area though that 5.0 really comes alive.

If I owned a 5.0, I'd definitely get a set of more aggressive gears as a mod early on to combat that lack of low end feeling.

Can't remember but when I had a Dodge Challenger SRT you could pull a fuse or disconnect the battery or something like that for a certain amount of time and it resetted the computer of your automatic driving habits. Not sure if these cars have the same thing.

Honestly you should beat the **** out of it from Day 1. It breaks in the motor better and people who do this seem to have stronger engines and less problems ... Or so the majority of what I have read

Just the way the auto's are. Had an '11 and now a '13. A fix is a tune. Better throttle response and low end power. The Ford Racing Procal will do this as a approximate increase of 16 hp/7 lb-ft and up to 60 lb-ft @ 1500 rpm on 93 octane fuel or a better auto tune from VMP or Lund can do this also.

The rental 5.0 auto I had had a bit less seat o' the pants feel...but the numbers don't lie. The auto cars put down great times.

Also, my 2011 (6MT) started feeling MUCH faster after I rolled bout 5k miles. I don't have any data on this but I'd swear that it picked up a big wallop of torque after it was fully broken in...and it continues to surprise me with 12,000 miles on the odometer....so give yours some more time before you give up on it.

This motor is the real deal.

No doubt up the rev line the engine comes alive, just didn't notice it in my test drives last year. I have other 400hp cars where the power comes on tap instantly. I'm not disappointed, was curious if this was normal. When snow and winter comes to Canada in 6months, this will be a great feature as a daily driver. I can't wait to see how the convertible holds up this winter.

Is that a 3:31 gear they put in the autos? I see in the book it says the 3:55 and 3:73 is manual only?

3:15
Most say you do not want to go over 3:31's in the auto. First gear is already very steep. Better off with just a convertor.
