Can you do that with a DIB 500 with white stripes for me? I would appreciate it.

I think you guys are overthinking the plate surround. After seeing the chops (nice work by the way) I think ford made that plate surround that large so it was as wide as the area between the tails. It is nice to see it both ways though and I personally wouldn't mind it either way.

Thanks Sky Hye. I used to do a lot of photo-shopping a few years ago, it took a little while to remember how to do some things, but I enjoy doing it, so it’s no trouble.

I'll give it a go tonight, the hard part is finding a large enough picture with proper lighting that shows the depth of the plate surround. That's why I choose the picture I did. I'll take a look around and see if I can find a good picture of a Shelby DIB, if not a DIB gt and I'll try to add stripes.

FYI: Would be illegal due to the new tail lights, I believe. Can anyone confirm?

I don't believe it's because of the new tail lights. I've noticed that all new cars are getting reflectors like that in the rear. I thinks it's a new government regulation for new cars.

There are not any reflective surfaces on a lot of newer cars tail lights due to the type of bulbs being used now. Fed. regulations require so many square inches of reflective surface to be legal. I don't think there are any regs on lens' having to be red as long as they show red when on.

Why is it that I see some '13s with the panel between the tail pipes painted and some are not.....such as the red vs the white pics in this thread?

I think the 500, boss and gt/cs share a rear fascia that is different from gt, and base.

It's not a government requirement in the US for the reflectors to be in the lower bumper fascia. It is just a requirement for the rear to have reflectors. Since the taillamps of the 2012 and earlier models incorporated the reflectors within the lens assembly, they did not need separate reflectors. Because the 2013 taillamps were restyled the way they were, the reflectors had to be moved to the bumper.

So all the foreign cars I see with two reflectors on the rear are because of this?

Did you read the first paragraph?

"It's not a government requirement in the US for the reflectors to be in the lower bumper fascia."

Regulations are different in Europe and abroad. Lower bumper mounted reflectors are a required location in some of those other markets. That is why you see foreign cars that retain this location when they are sold in the US. There is no need to change the location for the US market simply because the only requirement is that reflectors be there.

If you pay attention to US cars exported to some other countries, you will notice they almost always have additional lighting requirements added to pass inspection. This can be additional reflectors in the lower rear fascia, rear position fog lamps and amber turn signals.
