2013 premium track pack at dealer lot marked up $42k??

Saw a black 13 premium track pack at the dealer, supposedly first 13 they got, it was marked up to $42k is that normal?

It sure looked lovely tho, first time seeing 13 in person, sexy

Well MSRP on the one I ordered was over 42k and that was without Racaeros and Shaker Pro... so if they had it marked MSRP it is pretty easy....

This one didn't have recaros but has shaker and track apps. Msrp is $38k on sticker if I remember. But then dealer added $4k more just for fun, assuming because it's rare right now to see a 13

I hate when dealers get greedy. That $4,000 generates ill will and makes shoppers go to other dealers. It's just the principle of the markup that pisses me off.

Buy it this fall for 35K after everyone got one and he's sick of looking at it.

A few dealers here in the Toronto area have multiple 13 GT's and V6 in stock. No markups as far as I know. Of course our sticker prices are a few grand more then the US to begin with, but Ford Canada has a 2K rebate already.

When will these stupid greedy dealers ever learn!!!

I would LOVE to know their reason to mark it up? If they say its a "limited" track pack, they are nuts!!!

I really hate the concept of markups. I refuse to pay a dime over sticker for any car. Personally, I wish Ford would be proactive in dealing with this. If a dealer is known to charge markups, stop sending them said cars. Their dealer network is robust enough that another dealer would step up, or the dealer would think twice about charging it in the first place.

kind of like when the 2000 Cobra R came out...

i think if memory serves was MSRP of around 35k..

a local dealer, had one sitting in their showroom marked 75k..

2 years later that car was still sitting in the exact spot..

The problem is that Ford can't stop it. The dealers are not owned by Ford, but are individual franchises, and Ford can't control pricing on cars they don't directly sell. The problem mainly is the dealers who think its great to do, but also for those crazy customers who have more money than brains who don't mind paying extra to be the "1st" on the block with the newest model. If the customers won't pay it, it would stop eventually. And also, some dealers just don't realize how ADMs in the long run will hurt business more than help it.

I remember that time. The MSRP of the R was $54,995. I remember the price as the guy I just sold my 1st '13 GT500 allocation to, bought one and sold it recently for that same price, which he told me was MSRP back in the day. Even at $75K, on a $55K car, thats a $20K markup and that was rediculous!!!

On a related note, many dealers are discounting new '13's well below MSRP. For example, the dealership I work for has every new Ford & Lincoln on our lot priced at the factory invoice total or lower right now - even the '13 Mustang V6's and GT's!

Although as a consumer I don't like it, I can't say I wouldn't allow it. Market price is dictated by supply and demand. Dealers struggle to make a couple of hundred over invoice on almost every car they sell, so if they can sell a car for over MSRP because the car is in demand with limited supply...well welcome to capitalism.

Yea I agree it's silly on something that anyone can order to have it marked up like that but look at the prices that some people want for their used cars... I have a saying when someone wants a lot more then what the market will support.. "oh so your a collector?"

Here in CT that's all I see is mark ups. Ford dealers around here will not ****er on Mustangs at all. I still se 2011's on lots. We just don't get our fair share of Mustangs here so we have to pay more. That's why I contacted you about the Shelby. If you went into any Ford dealer here in CT and asked to buy a GT500 at X-Plan they would laugh at you. Believe me, it's happened many times.

Track pack GT Premiums $500 under MSRP

The dealer where I ordered my 2013 Boss from has 2 Track Pack GT Premiums on the lot, RR w/Recaros, HOT! and a Black one w/401A cashmere interior. Great place to deal with, and my sales guy told me they were looking for $500 under MSRP for each one.

If you are interested, you can check the vids on my youtube channel 'ace72ace', and call and talk to either Steve or Harold at M&M Ford in Epsom, NH. Doesn't help if you are out west, but you have no location listed...

If someone showed up wanting to make a deal you could probably get a little movement on that price if you wanted to negotiate. Their doc fee is a reasonable $279 bucks as well.

I don't think these will last long once the weather gets warmer. Supposed to be 86 here tomorrow, whoohoo!

Well in that specific example, it's because the Shelby isn't subject to x-plan pricing. It's been said on this forum by dealers such as Jeff himself multiple times.

I believe the 2012 were allowed to go on x-plan tho.
