2013 Mustang GT with stock then GT500 Mufflers
#21
Nice vid, thanks! Maybe it's just my imagination, but The stock 2013 mufflers sound better & a little louder than the stock mufflers on my early-2011 5.0 GT 'vert 6MT (build date April 2010). I thought my stock 2012's were a slight improvement over my 2011's so maybe Ford made some running changes to improve the stock sound. Either way the GT500 mufflers are a small-but-definite upgrade, and worth it. I love mine. They're worth it just for the burly 4" tips alone.
Resonators: I would like to get my resonators cut out, so I called about the only muffler shop in the area that does welding, "Muffler King". When I told the guy what I wanted to do (cut out the resonators & replace with straight pipe), I was astonished when he said they didn't keep any stainless pipe in stock and that they'd have to special order it! An exhaust place that doesn't stock stainless pipe at all?!? I was incredulous. And so I still have my resonators, since they aren't close by & I'd have to bring my car there twice - for measuring & ordering, and again for the cut-n-install. Didn't sound like it'd be anywhere near under $100 either...

Thanks guys. The videos don't truely show how good they sound. What I am liking alot is when you de-accelerate you get the nice popping of the exhaust like the Roush had but without the drone.

Double,
I am in the same boat here in NOVA. I put the 500's in, and when looking around here, I either get some guy who's name I can't pronounce telling me to leave it for an entire day for him to "evaluate"....or, a quote that leaves me laughing. I have been quoted from $200 -$400 for what is likely 30 minutes, and a few feet of pipe.
Now, granted, it is welded, and will require lift time...yada, yada,....but I laugh reading multiple posts from folks on here quoting free- $40/50 - $100 tops, and I am getting full-exhaust fab-install pricing here in rip-off-ville NOVA. It amazes me how in this economy, several shops I have talked to, (even sent pics to) made me feel like they didn't even want the work.
I have a crisp $100 in my wallett, and maybe a few extra, but that's about all I am willing to shell out to cut two exposed pipes, and 4 welds. Good luck. NOVA sucks for anything Hot-Rod. Every "performace" shop around me caters to Porsche/BMW/Mercedes cork sniffers with money falling out of their wallets, and nay a wrench in their garage. Guys who couldn't, wouldn't change their own oil.

FWIW, you can swap the stock ones out yourself very easily and save the $$$ the dealership robs you of. Took me about 30 minutes (no lift, sitting in the garage, requires 1 socket), to take off my stock axlebacks and replace them with Flowmaster Outlaws. About as difficult as changing your oil.
