2013 Mustang asking price

Hello, I'm currently in the market for a 2013 Mustang V6 Premium with the following packages: V6 Performance Package, Comfort Package, Reverse Sensing & Security Package, and Mustang Club of America Package. Also, I want an Automatic. I'm wanting a Sterling Gray with Charcoal Leather seats. My question is that will a dealer sell a 2013 mustang at or below invoice? I've done my research and I have a figure in mind, but I just need to know whether they are willing to do business with me. I am also in Tennessee and the only cars that I have found matching my criteria are in Texas and Florida. I don't know if the dealers will go that far, but if not will they still be willing to negotiate on an order. Thanks!

I know it's a lot to ask, but this is my very first mustang!

Shop around. Don't nessesarily take the first offer from the first dealer. This is always tempting when shopping for a new vehicle. And keep an open mind. Another good thing to do is get pre-financed from your bank or credit union. Having that in your pocket makes purchasing power even better, and it's one less stressful thing to have to do when buying.

You seem firm on what you want, so stick to it if this is the exact Mustang you have to have. A dealer will always try to get you to buy what's on their lot, or close by. Be prepared for this. They can order you what you want, or get the optioned car you want transported. Sometimes there's a cost for this, and they may want you to pay it.

Nice ride from Florida to Tennesse. Maybe a road trip to Florida, then drive the Mustang back.

And you can drop by Gainsville and visit with the Florida Gators! Bet you'd like that....

zman, welcome to the forum. If you have a preferred dealer check with them. My dealer I've done bussiness with for over 20 years ordered our '13. Priced it at dealer invoice. I couldn't ask for anything more. Below invoice before incentives may be a little difficult this early in the model year. Good luck.

My new order was over 30K MSRP. With incentives and knowing the dealer I was able to get that marked down to what is listed as dealer cost. I think if you can get close to that dealer cost you are doing well. I opted for the comfort package over the security package..

How'd you get the dealer to go that far below invoice?

I have been upfront with many dealers in the area that I want the car at 27,500 and if they are willing to take the offer I will give them a check for 27500 right then and there. I don't know if they have that much of a margin on an order or not but it is a start!

I asked for invoice. They said yes. Ford's rebate was $1,000, and my military discount was $500.

I asked for invoice(Canada) and they came back at $100 over invoice, then I got a $2000 ford rebate followed by a $1000 costco rebate; so a total rebate of $2900 below invoice.

They want you to do the full deal on a ordered car???? I believe most dealers take a binder on a order and that's it. Sounds fishy if its to order new and not buy from the lot.

Ya, I know but in this area for some reason nobody wants to even try to sell you a car.

I went to my dealer with invoice and told them I was shopping and the dealer to come closest to invoice would get my order. They asked what price would get me to buy the car today and I told them if they gave it to me for invoice then I would be done shopping. Placed the order put $500 down and done in 45 minutes. I have bought almost a dozen new cars over the many years I have been driving and this was the simplest deal I ever made.
Don't be in a hurry to get the car and you will get the deal you want.
Oh and I got another $1250 off when i went to pick it up (incentives).

Try www.truecar.com - put in your criteria and it finds dealers in the area with rock-bottom prices. I did this when debating between a used '11 GT premium and a '12 GT base. The '12 prices were really low - worth a shot for you too.
