Boss 302:

Torsen and recaro seats are options, not standard

No fog lights
No oil squirters
Race-specification crankshaft main and rod bearings
cnc ported heads
titanium intake / sodium filled exhaust valves
Forged aluminum pistons and sinter-forged connecting rods
Revised oil pan baffling
7500 rpm redline

cosmetic differences like the blue valve cover caps

2013 includes track apps on the dash 4.2" LCD

The Boss doesn't include a roll bar.

Some of these are pretty much common knowledge, but hey it's all good.

The Boss 'base' doesn't come equipped with Recaro seats or a Roll Bar (X-Brace on LS, but that's it). Torsen diff is also an option, not standard.

Good list so far!

There was a full list of Boss-specific parts made up for the 2012 model year. Haven't yet found it through the search yet.

Remember, there's a few of those Boss goodies that you can get on a 55R equipped '13. Specifically, the radiator, oil cooler and Torsen diff.

If you use your car a lot for cruising, but want some of the boss performance, a 55R equipped GT is the way to go.

If you're a track ratt and don't care about cushy leather, big stereos etc, opt for the Boss.

i thought the engine was same, with exception of the boss intake and a few things around it like the radiator and oil cooler. corrected the roll bar, i saw one with a roll bar and though it was standard. and also thought torsen and recaros are standard as well, that makes me more happy to order a track package on the GT model.

corrected those, I'm actually surprised that those are not standard.

ill be getting the 13 GT with recaros and track pack myself, but was really interested to see the difference between the 2 base models. with a track pack and recaros it almost seems like you are getting a better package than a base boss or am i missing something major?

The Boss engine definitely has the edge over the standard 5.0 but I think the standard Boss suspension doesn't stand up to the GT Track Pack. For the price of the Recaros and the TORSEN suspension, I think most order the Boss with the upgrade.

The stock Boss comes with adjustable dampers with stiffer springs to match. I'd say that's a major advantage over the GT. A GT owner (or future owner in my case) will be dropping $600-$800 just for that ability alone. Add in stiffer springs, and you're already at $1000. Are the bushings the same? If not, more money there. No, I think the stock Boss suspension is superior to the stock underdamped GT suspension.

As to whether a 55R is better than a base Boss, let's not kid ourselves. If those of us getting 55Rs could afford a Boss, we most likely would have bought a Boss. I can't afford one, so a 55R gets me close.

Other way around. Track pack is slightly inferior to a base Boss.

They way I see it is the new 2013 GT (as the way I am going to order it) can be made into a "Boss-Lite." Add FRPP adjustable dampers and springs and you have a vehicle that is everything a Boss is, minus the engine of course.
So for $10k less I will deal with not having the extra 24 hp, and 500 rpm.

Congrats on your plan, should make for a nice updated track rat

So it would appear that the Boss owner would be paying around 10K for forged parts and some extras. Very pricey!
