2012 GT finally arrived! Few Rebate Questions....

Hey guys, my 12 GTCS finally arrive on Friday and I should be taking delivery Monday ~5pm. Was at the dealer today and discussed a few things. Here's my situation.... Placed the order on 06/10/11 and had the following rebates, $500 thru Ford and $750 Private Cash (which they said will be locked in for delivery date). Now recently Ford added a $1000 rebate which, on here, guys confirmed on here should equal $2250 in eligible rebates, all compatible with the X-plan. OK.....

Today, I asked my salesman to make sure all the rebates were correct. He came back and stated, its one or the other. Meaning, I can take the Greater of the rebates at the time of the order or now at the time of delivery. So either 500 and my 750 cash from 6/10 OR the 500 and the 1000 now. And says I cant add the private cash.

This doesnt seem right to me....

Can FORDCUSTSERVICE or anyone else please chime in with some insight so I can have a valid argument on Monday? Thanks a bunch!

A car dealer would never do that for a few extra bucks.....

The Dealer is the middle man when it coes to rebates We must follow Fords rules Ford pays the Dealer the rebates that they pass on to you They can not keep any of the rebates As long as your price has not changed I would choose the rebates that add up to the most and enjoy your new car Dont make it difficult

I ordered my car and when it came in the dealer told me the same thing. They said I could either take the $1250 ($500 rebate and $750 private cash) that was available when I ordered the car or the current $1500 in rebates but no private cash, as it has expired, despite their prior reassurance that my $750 private cash was protected. I walked, telling them that I wanted my promised $750 in private cash in addition to the current $1500 or I wouldn't purchase the car. They called me the next day and said they spoke to Ford Customer Service and said that I could get the entire $2250 in rebates, which I did. I'd recommend you do the same.

sounds like a plan....I remember a ford employee here posted up pictures that the system will accept all 3 rebates totalling 2250. I have to call the finance guy in the morning about my bank approval and i will shoot it out with him.

Both my father and I ordered our cars on 3/28 when rebates were $500 + $750 brochure cash each. My car came in 6/6 and rebates were the same so thats what I got. My dad's car came in 7/28 after the added another $1,000 rebate. He got the full $2,250. Each individual rebate is price protected so if they go up you get the better amount but if it goes down/expires you are still locked in.

Don't think the dealer is trying to scam you, they probably just haven't dealt with this before. Ford started price protecting rebates on orders just this year. Tell them to call one of their dealer reps and I'm sure they will take care of if for you!

Make sure to post us some pics!!!

I took delivery 7/28 and got $2250 in rebates with X plan. You can absolutely use the $750 private cash with the current $1500 in rebates currently being offered. Don't take no for an answer....

Edit- here's a screen shot that a salesman posted showing the $2250.

Playing phone tag with the finance guy, he claims on voice mail that the bank wants "more money down" to lock me in at the 1.9%. I've already agreed to over 36% down, I don't see how much more they could want, my credit is perfect. And he did not address the rebate issue, he kind of dodged the questions. I have a feeling this is gonna fall thru, they want to make it a hassle.

As an update, the bank issue worked out better with another bank and I will have to battle it out with my salesman on the rebates when I get there in about 45 min.

Don't back down. Took Ford, not the dealer 2 months to finally get me my $750 from the brochure.

Well they wouldn't take anything. The manager actually "went out of his way" so he says, to call a Ford Customer Service rep to prove me wrong and that since my coupon expired it was no longer valid, but only since the new 1000 rebate took its place. I kinda made the argument that Ford lured me in with the coupon and then yanked it away at the last minute. Although he stated if the coupon was current I wouldve been good. Needless to say i'm disappointed but if a Ford CS manager said it was either 1500 or the 1250 and thats all, I had no leg to stand on. He did say if Ford agrees, I can still get the rebate after the fact. I PM'd FCS to hopefully get some better light on this

The dealership manager is a little cocky, basically calling me stupid and that FCS reps hardly know what they are talking about. Although he had no problem listening to Andrew on the phone when he sided with him lol. He even said, " I just think Anthony here knows he is making out on the deal (going from 1250 to 1500) but wants to make out even more. That kind of ticked me off, I felt my ears get hot but he redeemed himself fast. In short, yes I did only get the $1500 and not the 2250. He challenged me to getting a new coupon or having ford agree that I shouldve gotten the 750. We shall see.....
