Well I hope this is a rare thing, but my 2012 6AT started making a whirring groaning whine sound while in gear, not park or neutral. The sound was not very loud, but could be heard easily if you had the car somewhere the sound could bounce, like a garage or next to a wall.
Took the car in, and the service adviser and I agreed that it sounded like transmission pump noise. After they had the car for a few days they could not pinpoint the noise, so the Ford hotline approved replacement of the pump and converter to attempt remediation of the noise.
While I'm waiting on the parts, I'm beginning to have an internal conflict with my love for the Mustang and the transmission failure rate of the current cars. I badly want to install a supercharger, but if I can't depend on the parts not breaking in stock form, I can't even imagine what would happen with the extra power from the supercharger, especially on a daily driver.
Do you guys trust the stock parts enough to install a supercharger and void the factory powertrain warranty, or would you just put that $7000 down on a 2013 GT500 that will already have the power and upgraded parts?

So just to be clear, you're asking me weather I trust the quality of the stock parts enough or should you go with a '13 500? I would choose the '13 500 every time even if I did trust the quality of stock parts.
As a cost comparison, the GT500 will obviously cost more in monthly payments and insurance, while installing a supercharger on a stock GT will be cheaper overall, but includes risks.
So it boils down to trust over money..

And for a quick background, this is my 10th Mustang since 1987, so I'm no stranger to Mustangs. Outside of my wife's Ford Flex, the only Ford model I've ever owned is a Mustang. If Ford as a company has one historically bad thing with the Mustang, it's the transmissions.
I think I've already answered my question regarding the the GT500 vs Supercharged stock car, if you want to modify the stock car to be as fast or better than the GT500, start with a GT500.
Is any one building a stronger auto? Since the SC could cause warranty issues, might as well swap to a stronger auto and have the stock car built to do what you want it to.
I believe you are the only one I have heard of with a bad.......um.....auto tranny.
BTW, if an individual wanted to build a stock car to beat a GT500....starting with a GT500 is not doing that.....

Had lot of cars, including a Honda. All cars break, their mechanical, so it's just of matter of when, not if. Here my list of cars I've owned starting in '87, and almost all have had driveline or suspension issues or problems.

1981 Ford Mustang
1985 Chevy Camaro Z28 IROC-Z
1984 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z
1984 Ford Mustang GT
1985 Chevy Camaro
1990 Ford Mustang LX 5.0
1991 Ford Mustang GT
1981 Chevy Camaro Z28
1984 Ford Mustang GT - This was my favorite car, did lots of work to it, kept almost 4-years, which is an millenium for me.
1998 Dodge Avenger V6
1999 Dodge Neon R/T
2000 Honda Civic EX
1989 Ford Mustang LX 5.0
2002 VW Jetta 1.8T
2003 VW GTI VR6
2004 VW Golf R32
2004 Ford Mustang Cobra
2004 Pontiac GTO 5.7L 6MT
1989 Ford Mustang GT
2006 Mazda 6 Wagon V6

I hope you're right. The Ford Service Advisor was a little surprised when I told him on the phone I had an automatic transmission noise, he was already assuming the MT82 before I could even get the word automatic out of my mouth.

LOL - It was a general reference, I didn't mean all needed new transmissions or rebuilds. I'm simply stating and acknowledging that cars aren't perfect, don't expect them to be, and the issues could have been cold shift issues, gear grind issue, bad suspension, etc..

I'd like to escalate this to the Customer Service Manager assigned to your area. Please, PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number so I can help.

I agree.....I think part of the problem are the TV commercials & advertising....these young foolish kids buy these cars & abuse them thinking they can handle it & end up having problems....I have a 2003 Mach1 / 5- speed & have had zero problems
